Abstract

A welding process is provided. The welding process includes two steps. First, the welding material is applied over a large area of the substrate in the region without melting or partially melting the welding material. Then, a welding device is used to melt the applied welding material. In addition the welding material may be applied in two applications where the second application of the welding material is applied over a large area of the first application of molten and solidified welding material. Then, the second application of the welding material is melted.

Claims (22)

1 .- 10 . (canceled)

11 . A method for welding a region of a substrate of a component, comprising:

applying a welding material over a large area of the substrate in the region without melting or partially melting the welding material; and

melting the applied welding material by a welding device.

12 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the welding material comprises a powder.

13 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the welding material is applied in a form of a film.

14 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the welding material is melted by a laser.

15 . The method as claimed in claim 12 , wherein the welding material is melted by the laser.

16 . The method as claimed in claim 13 , wherein the welding material is melted by the laser.

17 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the welding material is melted by an electron beam source.

18 . The method as claimed in claim 12 , wherein the welding material is melted by the electron beam source.

19 . The method as claimed in claim 13 , wherein the welding material is melted by the electron beam source.

20 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the welding device or a welding beam and the welding material perform a relative movement in relation to one another.

21 . The method as claimed in claim 14 , wherein the welding device or the welding beam and the welding material perform a relative movement in relation to one another.

22 . The method as claimed in claim 17 , wherein the welding device or the welding beam and the welding material perform a relative movement in relation to one another.

23 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the melting of the welding material does not involve supplying a further welding material.

24 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , further comprising applying a second application of the welding material over a large area of the first application of molten and solidified welding material, and

wherein the second application of the welding material is then melted.

25 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the welding material is applied only once for complete processing of the region.

26 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein a plurality of contours are produced on a surface of the substrate.

27 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the substrate is a nickel-based superalloy.

28 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the substrate is a cobalt-base superalloy.
