Abstract

The invention relates to the identification and isolation of novel DNAs encoding the human Toll proteins PRO285, PRO286, and PRO358, and to methods and means for the recombinant production of these proteins. The invention also concerns antibodies specifically binding the PRO285, or PRO286, or PRO358 Toll protein.

Claims (13)

1. An isolated antibody which binds to a PRO286 polypeptide consisting essentially of amino acids 1 to 1041 encoded by SEQ ID NO:4.

2. The antibody of claim 1 wherein said antibody is a monoclonal antibody.

3. The antibody of claim 2 wherein said antibody is one of a chimeric, humanized, and human antibody.

4. The antibody of claim 2 wherein said antibody blocks binding of said polypeptide to one of a Gram-negative and Gram-positive organism.

5. An isolated antibody which specifically binds to a PRO286 polypeptide consisting of amino acid residues 27 to 825 of FIG. 3 (SEQ ID NO:3).

6. The antibody of claim 5 wherein said antibody is a monoclonal antibody.

7. The antibody of claim 6 wherein said antibody is one of a chimeric, humanized, and human antibody.

8. An isolated antibody which binds to a PRO286 polypeptide consisting essentially of:

(a) amino acids 1 to 1041 encoded by SEQ ID NO:4, or

(b) amino acid residues 27 to 825 of SEQ ID NO:3;

wherein said antibody is an agonist or an antagonist of NF-κB activation.

9. The antibody of claim 8 , wherein said antibody is an agonist of NF-κB activation.

10. The antibody of claim 8 , wherein said antibody is an antagonist of NF-κB activation.
