1. A compound of the formula (I)

Het represents
Y represents halogen, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, C 2 -C 4 alkenyl, C 2 -C 4 haloalkenyl, C 2 -C 4 alkynyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, C 1 -C 4 haloalkoxy, CN, or NO 2 ;
X represents NO 2 , CN, or COOR 7 ;
n and m independently represent integers from 0-1;
R 1 represents C 1 -C 4 alkyl;
R 2 represents C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, C 2 -C 4 alkenyl, C 2 -C 4 haloalkenyl, C 2 -C 4 alkynyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, C 1 -C 4 haloalkoxy, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy substituted C 1 -C 4 alkyl, CN, COOR 7 , COR 8 , CONR 7 R 8 , aryl, or arylalkyl;
R 3 represents C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, C 2 -C 4 alkenyl, C 2 -C 4 haloalkenyl, C 2 -C 4 alkynyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, C 1 -C 4 haloalkoxy, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy substituted C 1 -C 4 alkyl, CN, SO p R 6 , COOR 7 , CONR 7 R 8 , aryl, or arylalkyl;
R 4 represents C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, C 2 -C 4 alkenyl, C 2 -C 4 haloalkenyl, C 2 -C 4 alkynyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, C 1 -C 4 haloalkoxy, CN, SO p R 6 , COOR 7 , CONR 7 R 8 , aryl, or arylalkyl;
R 5 represents C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, C 2 -C 4 alkenyl, C 2 -C 4 haloalkenyl, C 2 -C 4 alkynyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, C 1 -C 4 haloalkoxy, CN, SO p R 6 , COOR 7 , CONR 7 R 8 , aryl, or arylalkyl;
R 6 represents C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl;
R 7 represents C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, C 3 -C 6 alkenyl, C 3 -C 6 alkynyl, C 3 -C 6 haloalkenyl, aryl, or arylalkyl; and
R 8 represents H, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, C 3 -C 6 alkenyl, C 3 -C 6 alkynyl, C 3 -C 6 haloalkenyl, aryl, or arylalkyl.
2. A compound of claim 1 in which Y represents halogen, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, C 1 -C 4 haloalkoxy, CN, or NO 2 .
3. A compound of claim 1 in which Y is halo or C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl.
4. A compound of claim 1 in which X is NO 2 or CN.
5. A compound of claim 1 in which m and n represent 0.
6. A compound of claim 1 in which R 1 represents CH 3 or CH 2 CH 3 .
7. A compound of claim 1 in which R 2 represents C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, C 2 -C 4 haloalkenyl, C 2 -C 4 alkynyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy substituted C 1 -C 4 alkyl, or arylalkyl.
8. A composition for controlling insects which comprises a compound of claim 1 in combination with a phytologically-acceptable carrier.
9. A method of controlling insects which comprises applying to a locus where control is desired an insect-inactivating amount of a compound of claim 1 .
