Transcutaneous analyte sensor
The present invention relates generally to systems and methods for measuring an analyte in a host. More particularly, the present invention relates to systems and methods for transcutaneous measurement of glucose in a host.
1. A sensor system for measuring an analyte in a host, the system comprising:
a sensor configured to measure an analyte concentration in a host;
sensor electronics operably connected to the sensor, wherein the sensor electronics are configured to produce a data stream indicative of the analyte concentration in the host and an RFID chip configured to identify the sensor and to transmit a signal including the identifier and the data stream to a receiver; and
a receiver configured to receive transmissions from the sensor electronics, to download the data stream, and to control the user interface by displaying the analyte concentration from the sensor, wherein the receiver is programmed to confirm sensor insertion prior to display of the analyte concentration, and wherein the receiver is configured to identify the sensor insertion based on the data stream.
2. The sensor system of claim 1 , wherein said data stream comprises sensor implantation data.
3. The sensor system of claim 1 , wherein the sensor electronics are programmed with an identification key comprising sensor information.
4. The sensor system of claim 3 , wherein the sensor information comprises calibration information.
5. The sensor system of claim 3 , wherein the sensor information comprises temperature information.
6. The sensor system of claim 3 , wherein the sensor electronics are programmed to transmit the sensor information to the receiver.
7. The sensor system of claim 1 , wherein the sensor electronics are programmed to store the data stream.
8. The sensor system of claim 7 , wherein the sensor electronics are programmed to transmit the stored and real time data streams.
9. The sensor system of claim 8 , wherein the analyte concentration displayed by the receiver includes the analyte concentrations from the stored the real time data streams received from the sensor electronics.
