Abstract

A plurality of original files represent underlying original bits of data from which a key is created in a multi-dimensional mapping space for a relevancy topic. If new data is sufficiently close to this relevancy topic key, it is related to the topic and presented to users. Various closeness measures are defined as are methods for key creation. Still other features contemplate computing arrangements and program products.

Claims (26)

1. In a computing system environment, a method of filtering to users relevancy data available from one or more computing devices, comprising:

from a plurality of original files on the one or more computing devices, each file representing an underlying original bits of data and representative of a relevancy topic, creating a key in a multi-dimensional mapping space for the relevancy topic wherein the multi-dimensional mapping space is defined by an N-dimensional space according to a number of symbols N corresponding to the underlying original bits of data, said key being created by defining a digital spectrum of each of said plurality of files from an entirety of said original bits of data of said plurality of files, aggregating each said digital spectrum of each of said plurality of files, and plotting said aggregated digital spectrum as defining a single point in the multi-dimensional mapping space representing the relevancy topic for said plurality of original files; and

determining whether new data on the one or more computing devices is sufficiently related to the relevancy topic by being within a predefined closeness of the key in the multi-dimensional mapping space.

2. The method of claim 1 , further including presenting to the users the new data when the new data is determined to be sufficiently related to the relevancy topic.

3. The method of claim 1 , further including creating a second key for a second relevancy topic.

4. The method of claim 3 , further including routing the new data to various destination computing devices based on whether the new data is more related to the first or second relevancy topic.

5. The method of claim 1 , further including determining whether the new data is said sufficiently related by being within a predetermined distance of the key in the multi-dimensional mapping space.

6. The method of claim 1 , further including preselecting the plurality of original files with advanced knowledge of the relevancy topic.

7. The method of claim 1 , further including receiving the new data as a stream of discrete data elements from multiple disparate computing sources.

8. In a computing system environment, a method of filtering to users relevancy data available from one or more computing devices, comprising:

from a plurality of original files on the one or more computing devices, each file representing an underlying original bits of data and representative of a relevancy topic, creating a key in a multi-dimensional mapping space for the relevancy topic wherein the multi-dimensional mapping space is defined by an N-dimensional space according to a number of symbols N corresponding to the underlying original bits of data, said key being created by defining a digital spectrum of each of said plurality of files from an entirety of said original bits of data of said plurality of files, aggregating each said digital spectrum of each of said plurality of files, and plotting said aggregated digital spectrum as defining a single point in the multi-dimensional mapping space representing the relevancy topic for said plurality of original files;

defining a measure of closeness to the key in the multi-dimensional mapping space; and

presenting to users new data from the one or more computing devices sufficiently related to the relevancy topic that is within the measure of closeness.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the defining the measure of closeness further includes defining a mathematical distance within the multi-dimensional mapping space.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the defining the measure of closeness further includes determining a highest occurring symbol in the multi-dimensional mapping space corresponding to the underlying original bits of data.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the defining the measure of closeness further includes determining symbols in the multi-dimensional mapping space corresponding to a majority of content in the underlying original bits of data.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the defining the measure of closeness further includes defining an overlapping amount of distance vectors in the multi-dimensional mapping space between the key and the new data.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the defining the measure of closeness further includes defining an average of all position vectors in the multi-dimensional mapping space for the plurality of original files and creating a statistical mean therefor.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein the creating the key avoids considering metadata or other administrative data concomitant with the plurality of original files.

15. The method of claim 8 , further including creating a second key for a second relevancy topic.

16. The method of claim 15 , further including routing the new data to various destination computing devices based on whether the new data is more related to the first or second relevancy topic according to the first and second created keys.

17. The method of claim 8 , wherein the presenting to users the new data from the one or more computing devices further includes an inverse functionality such that the new data determined to be sufficiently related to the relevancy topic is excluded from the presenting to the user.

18. A computer program product available on a non-transitory computer readable medium for loading on a computing device in a computing system environment, the computer program product being configured for filtering to users relevancy data available from one or more computing devices, comprising:

executable instructions for configuring a key in a multi-dimensional mapping space for a relevancy topic from a plurality of original files on the one or more computing devices wherein the multi-dimensional mapping space is defined by an N-dimensional space according to a number of symbols N corresponding to the underlying original bits of data, each file representing an underlying original bits of data and representative of the relevancy topic, and determining by execution on a processor of the computing device whether new data on the one or more computing devices is sufficiently related to the relevancy topic by being within a predefined closeness of the key;

wherein said key is created from an entirety of said original bits of data of said plurality of files by defining a digital spectrum of each of said plurality of files, aggregating each said digital spectrum of each of said plurality of files, and plotting said aggregated digital spectrum as defines a single point in the multi-dimensional mapping space representing the relevancy topic for said plurality of original files.

19. The computer program product of claim 18 , further including executable instructions for presenting to the users the new data when the new data is determined to be sufficiently related to the relevancy topic.
