Abstract

If misalignment in a line width direction of an electrode (pad) of a connection terminal is caused in attachment of a substrate and an FPC, a connection area of the FPC terminal and the connection terminal becomes smaller and contact resistance is increased. In particular, an increase in contact resistance of the connection terminal to which a power supply potential serving as a power source is inputted is a cause of defective display. In view of the above, an object of the present invention is to decrease the resistance of a power supply line, to suppress a voltage drop in the power supply line, and to prevent defective display. A connection terminal portion includes a plurality of connection terminals. The plurality of connection terminals is provided with a plurality of connection pads which is part of the connection terminal. The plurality of connection pads includes a first connection pad and a second connection pad having a line width different from that of the first connection pad. Pitches between the plurality of connection pads are equal to each other.

Claims (39)

1. A display device comprising:

a pixel portion including a plurality of transistors, wherein each of the plurality of transistors contains In, Zn and O in a channel formation region;

a driver circuit portion; and

a connection terminal portion, wherein the connection terminal portion includes a plurality of connection terminals,

wherein the plurality of connection terminals is provided with a plurality of connection pads, each of which is part of the connection terminal portion,

wherein the plurality of connection pads include a first connection pad and a second connection pad having a line width different from that of the first connection pad,

wherein a first wire extends from the first connection pad, and

wherein a plurality of second wire extend from the second connection pad.

2. A display device according to claim 1 , wherein a flexible printed circuit is connected to the connection terminal portion.

3. A display device according to claim 1 , wherein the display device is incorporated in at least one selected from the group consisting of a camera, a computer, a mobile computer, a goggle type display, a video camera, an image reproducing device, and a mobile phone.

4. A display device according to claim 1 , wherein the each of the plurality of transistors further contains Ga in the channel formation region.

5. A display device according to claim 1 , wherein the first connection pad and the second connection pad are provided outside a sealing region.

A display device according to claim 2 , wherein at least one connection terminal in the connection terminal portion is connected to a plurality of terminals of the flexible printed circuit, and a contact resistance between the connection terminal and the plurality of terminals of the flexible printed circuit is 5 Ω or less.

7. A display device comprising:

a pixel portion including a plurality of transistors, wherein each of the plurality of transistors contains In, Zn and O in a channel formation region;

a driver circuit portion; and

a connection terminal portion, wherein the connection terminal portion includes a plurality of connection terminals,

wherein the plurality of connection terminals is provided with a plurality of connection pads, each of which is part of the connection terminal portion,

wherein the plurality of connection pads include a first connection pad and a second connection pad having a line width different from that of the first connection pad,

wherein pitches between the plurality of connection pads are equal to each other,

wherein a first wire extends from the first connection pad, and

wherein a plurality of second wires extend from the second connection pad.

8. A display device according to claim 7 , wherein a flexible printed circuit is connected to the connection terminal portion.

9. A display device according to claim 7 , wherein the display device is incorporated in at least one selected from the group consisting of a camera, a computer, a mobile computer, a goggle type display, a video camera, an image reproducing device, and a mobile phone.

10. A display device according to claim 7 , wherein the each of the plurality of transistors further contains Ga in the channel formation region.

11. A display device according to claim 7 , wherein the first connection pad and the second connection pad are provided outside a sealing region.

12. A display device according to claim 8 , wherein at least one connection terminal in the connection terminal portion is connected to a plurality of terminals of the flexible printed circuit, and a contact resistance between the connection terminal and the plurality of terminals of the flexible printed circuit is 5 Ω or less.

13. A display device comprising:

a pixel portion including a plurality of transistors, wherein each of the plurality of transistors contains In, Zn and O in a channel formation region;

a driver circuit portion; and

a connection terminal portion, wherein the connection terminal portion includes a plurality of connection terminals,

wherein the plurality of connection terminals is provided with a plurality of connection pads, each of which is part of the connection terminal portion,

wherein pitches between the plurality of connection pads are equal to each other,

wherein the plurality of connection pads include a first connection pad and a second connection pad having a line width larger than that of the first connection pad,

wherein a first wire extends from the first connection pad, and

wherein a plurality of second wires extend from the second connection pad.

14. A display device according to claim 13 , wherein the display device is incorporated in at least one selected from the group consisting of a camera, a computer, a mobile computer, a goggle type display, a video camera, an image reproducing device, and a mobile phone.

15. A display device according to claim 13 , wherein the each of the plurality of transistors further contains Ga in the channel formation region.

16. A display device according to claim 13 , wherein the first connection pad and the second connection pad are provided outside a sealing region.
