DIGITAL IMAGING SYSTEM EMPLOYING USER PERSONALIZATION AND IMAGE UTILIZATION PROFILES
A computer or computer system stores digital images, user personalization profiles, and image usage profiles. The image usage profiles contain information identifying how often and by what user a digital image was viewed, shared, printed or otherwise used by a user. The user personalization profiles include information identifying the digital images that are viewed, shared, printed or otherwise used by a user. The system automatically generates and stores a preferred product or service associated with a user personalization profile based on the information in the user profile and on information in an image usage profile.
1 . A network connected computer system comprising:
a storage system for storing digital images received from a plurality of computers connected to the network, the storage system including user personalization profiles for each of a plurality of users communicating with the computer system over the network each using one of the plurality of computers, and including image usage profiles for the stored digital images, the image usage profiles each including data for identifying past uses of each of the stored digital images; and
programming responsive to a request received over the network from a user for an image product or service that includes one of the stored digital images, the programming for automatically transmitting to the user a customized offering of a second product or service, wherein the customized offering is modified in response to at least one of the image usage profiles and one of the user personalization profiles.
2 . The system of claim 1 wherein said at least one of the image usage profiles is for said one of the stored digital images and said one of the user personalization profiles is for said user.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the image usage profiles each comprise a separate file associated with one of the digital images.
4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the image usage profiles each comprise data indicating how often or by whom the associated digital images has been viewed, printed, incorporated into a product or service, or distributed.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user personalization profile includes information from a user's social networking website.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user personalization profile includes a user's preferred colors, patterns, objects, music, experiences, images, videos, or preferred product attributes.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user personalization profile includes information from a separate network connected server.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user personalization profile includes a user's preferred image product or service, and wherein the customized offering of the second product or service is based upon the user's preferred image product or service.
9 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a printer for printing the customized offering.
10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user personalization profile includes data describing which of the plurality of digital images was accessed by the user.
11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user personalization profile includes group membership data for identifying attributes of a group of which the user is a member.
12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the group membership data includes indicia of the group of which the user is a member and wherein the customized offering includes the indicia.
13 . A computer system comprising:
storage for storing digital images, user personalization profiles, and image usage profiles, the digital images uploaded to the computer system by users, the image usage profiles each associated with one of the digital images and including information identifying how often and by what user the one of the digital images was viewed, shared, printed or otherwise used by the user, and the user personalization profiles each associated with one of the users and including information identifying the digital images that are viewed, shared, printed or otherwise used by the one of the users, wherein the system automatically generates and stores a preferred product or service associated with at least one of the user personalization profiles based on the information in said at least one of the user personalization profiles and also based on at least one image usage profile.
14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the preferred product or service associated with at least one of the user personalization profiles includes a digital image associated with said at least one image usage profile.
15 . The system of claim 13 , wherein each of the image usage profiles is stored in a file together with its associated digital image.
16 . The system of claim 13 , wherein each of the image usage profiles comprise data indicating how often and by which user the associated digital image has been viewed, printed, incorporated into a product or service, or distributed.
17 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the user personalization profile includes information automatically obtained by the system from a user's social networking website.
18 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the user personalization profile includes a user's preferred colors, patterns, objects, music, experiences, images, videos, or preferred product attributes.
19 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user personalization profile includes data describing all of the plurality of digital images that has been accessed by the user.
