Abstract

Method and apparatus for performing communication between a Base Station (BS) and a Mobile Station (MS) in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system. A method includes determining, by the BS, a Pseudo Random Bit Sequence Identifier (PRBS_ID) for renumbering subchannels in a predetermined Partial Usage of SubChannels (PUSC) zone among a plurality of PUSC zones in a downlink (DL) frame, and transmitting, by the BS, the PRBS_ID to the MS within a Space Time Coding Zone Information Element (STC_ZONE_IE) of a DL MAP message included in the DL frame.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the PRBS_ID is for renumbering subchannels in a PUSC zone other than a first PUSC zone of the DL frame.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein renumbering subchannels is performed starting from a subchannel indicated by the PRBS_ID.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein subchannels in a first PUSC zone of the DL frame are numbered using a segment indicator obtained from a preamble in the DL frame.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein, for a Single-Frequency Network (SFN) service, the PRBS_ID is set to a same value in all cells or sectors.

6. A Base Station (BS) apparatus for performing communication with a Mobile Station (MS) in a wireless communication system, the BS apparatus comprising:

a message generator for generating a downlink (DL) MAP message including a Pseudo Random Bit Sequence Identifier (PRBS_ID) for renumbering subchannels in a predetermined Partial Usage of SubChannels (PUSC) zone from among a plurality of PUSC zones included in a downlink (DL) frame, the PRBS_ID being included in a Space Time Coding Zone Information Element (STC_ZONE_IE) of the DL MAP message; and

a transmitter for transmitting the DL MAP message via the DL frame.

7. The BS apparatus of claim 6 , further comprising:

a subchannel allocator for allocating subchannels according to a PUSC subchannel allocation scheme; and

a renumbering unit for renumbering the allocated subchannels using the PRBS_ID.

8. The BS apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the PRBS_ID is for renumbering subchannels in a PUSC zone other than a first PUSC zone of the DL frame.

9. The BS apparatus of claim 8 , wherein renumbering is performed starting from a subchannel indicated by the PRBS_ID.

10. The BS apparatus of claim 6 , wherein subchannels in a first PUSC zone of the DL frame are numbered using a segment indicator obtained from a preamble in the DL frame.

11. The BS apparatus of claim 6 , wherein, for a Single-Frequency Network (SFN) service, the PRBS_ID is set to a same value in all cells or sectors.

12. A Mobile Station (MS) apparatus for performing communication with a Base Station (BS) in a wireless communication system, the MS apparatus comprising:

a receiver for receiving a Pseudo Random Bit Sequence Identifier (PRBS_ID) within a Space Time Coding Zone Information Element (STC_ZONE_IE) of a downlink (DL) MAP message included in a DL frame from the BS; and

a subchannel extractor for renumbering subchannels in a predetermined Partial Usage of SubChannels (PUSC) zone from among a plurality of PUSC zones included in the DL frame, using the PRBS_ID.

13. The MS apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the PRBS_ID is for renumbering subchannels in a PUSC zone other than a first PUSC zone of the DL frame.

14. The MS apparatus of claim 13 , wherein renumbering is performed starting from a subchannel indicated by the PRBS_ID.

15. The MS apparatus of claim 12 , wherein subchannels in a first PUSC zone of the DL frame are numbered using a segment indicator obtained from a preamble in the DL frame.

16. The MS apparatus of claim 12 , wherein, for a Single-Frequency Network (SFN) service, the PRBS_ID is set to a same value in all cells or sectors.

17. A method for generating a message indicating resource allocation by a Base Station (BS) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

determining a resource band to be allocated to a Mobile Station (MS);

if the determined resource band is for a Single-Frequency Network (SFN) service, setting a Pseudo Random Bit Sequence Identifier (PRBS_ID) in a Space Time Coding Zone Information Element (STC_ZONE_IE) of a downlink (DL) MAP message with a same value for all cells or sectors;

if the determined resource band is not for the SFN service, setting the PRBS_ID in the STC_ZONE_IE with a segment indicator of a preamble; and

transmitting, to the MS, a DL frame including the preamble and the DL MAP message,

wherein the PRBS_ID is used for renumbering subchannels in a predetermined Partial Usage of SubChannels (PUSC) zone from among a plurality of PUSC zones included in the DL frame.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the segment indicator of a preamble is for renumbering subchannels in a first PUSC zone from among the plurality of PUSC zones included in the DL frame, and the PRBS_ID is used for renumbering subchannels in a PUSC zone other than the first PUSC zone.

19. A method of receiving a message indicating resource allocation by a Mobile Station (MS) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

receiving, within a downlink (DL) frame from a Base Station (BS), a DL MAP message including a Space Time Coding Zone Information Element (STC_ZONE_IE);

checking a Partial Usage of SubChannels (PUSC) zone included in the DL frame;

if the checked PUSC zone is a first PUSC zone, renumbering subchannels in the first PUSC zone using a segment indicator acquired by a preamble of the DL frame; and
