Abstract

A cartridge for a printer is provided having a body defining a number of fluid reservoirs, a lid covering the body to seal fluid inside the reservoirs, and a printhead operatively fed with fluid from the reservoirs. A base of each reservoir is provided with a raised portion which surrounds a fluid outlet through which fluid flows for supply to the printhead. Each raised portion being molded in the body to separate the outlet from the base of each reservoir to ensure a sufficient flow rate of fluid from the reservoir.

Claims (9)

1. A cartridge for a printer, said cartridge comprising:

a body defining a number of fluid reservoirs;

a lid covering the body to seal fluid inside the reservoirs; and

a printhead operatively fed with fluid from the reservoirs, wherein a base of each reservoir is provided with a raised portion which surrounds a fluid outlet through which fluid flows for supply to the printhead, each raised portion being moulded in the body to separate the outlet from the base of each reservoir to ensure a sufficient flow rate of fluid from the reservoir,

wherein the body is elongate and the reservoirs extend along a length thereof, with end reservoirs being larger than middle reservoirs.

2. A cartridge according claim 1 , wherein the reservoirs comprise absorbent material.

3. A cartridge according claim 1 , wherein a mesh is positioned over the outlet atop the raised portion thereby leaving a space between the mesh and the outlet for receiving fluid, said mesh being formed such that fluid can readily pass through the mesh to the printhead but air is prevented from passing through the mesh.

4. A cartridge according claim 1 , wherein a metal chassis is clipped to the body, the chassis being shaped to conform to the body and including a plurality of holes that extend therethrough which are positioned to correspond with the outlets of the reservoirs.

5. A cartridge according claim 1 , comprising a capper for operatively capping fluid ejection nozzles of the printhead.
