Abstract

The present invention includes obtaining block type identification information on a partition of the current macroblock when the current macroblock is intra-mixed, specifying a block type of the current macroblock based on the block type identification information, obtaining an intra prediction mode of the current macroblock according to the block type of the partition of the current macroblock, and predicting the current macroblock using the intra prediction mode and a pixel value of a neighboring block.

Claims (26)

1. A method of processing a video signal with a decoding apparatus, the method comprising:

receiving, with the decoding apparatus, the video signal, the video signal including block type information of a current block;

obtaining, with the decoding apparatus, the block type information of the current block from the video signal;

when the block type information specifies that the current block is coded in intra mode, obtaining, with the decoding apparatus, intra mode reference information of the current block from the video signal, the intra mode reference information indicating whether or not intra prediction mode information of the current block is derived from a neighboring block adjacent to the current block;

when the intra mode reference information indicates that the intra prediction mode information of the current block is derived from the neighboring block, deriving, with the decoding apparatus, the intra prediction mode information of the current block by selecting one of intra prediction mode candidates in an intra prediction mode candidate list, the intra prediction mode candidate list including intra prediction mode information of the neighboring block, the neighboring block including at least one of a top neighboring block and a left neighboring block;

when the intra mode reference information indicates that the intra prediction mode information of the current block is not derived from the neighboring block, parsing, with the decoding apparatus, the intra prediction mode information of the current block from the video signal; and

predicting, with the decoding apparatus, pixel values of the current block using the intra prediction mode information, wherein predicting the pixel values of the current block comprises:

splitting, with the decoding apparatus, the current block into a plurality of partitions by a transform block unit for transform coding, and

predicting, with the decoding apparatus, each partition within the current block by using the intra prediction mode information and decoded pixel values adjacent to the each partition,

wherein the parsed intra prediction mode information of the current block is commonly used for predicting each of the plurality of partitions within the current block.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

obtaining, with the decoding apparatus, skip mode indication information of the current block from the video signal, the skip mode indication information specifying whether or not the current block is coded in skip mode,

wherein the block type information of the current block is obtained when the skip mode indication information specifies that the current block is not coded in skip mode.

3. An apparatus of processing a video signal, comprising:

a decoding apparatus configured to:

receive the video signal, the video signal including block type information of a current block;

obtain the block type information of the current block from the video signal;

obtain intra mode reference information of the current block from the video signal when the block type information specifies that the current block is coded in intra mode, the intra mode reference information indicating whether or not intra prediction mode information of the current block is derived from a neighboring block adjacent to the current block;

derive the intra prediction mode information of the current block by selecting one of intra prediction mode candidates in an intra prediction mode candidate list when the intra mode reference information indicates that the intra prediction mode information of the current block is derived from the neighboring block, the intra prediction mode candidate list including intra prediction mode information of the neighboring block, the neighboring block including at least one of a top neighboring block;

parse the intra prediction mode information of the current block from the video signal when the intra mode reference information indicates that the intra prediction mode information of the current block is not derived from the neighboring block; and

predict pixel values of the current block using the intra prediction mode information, wherein predicting the pixel values of the current block comprises:

splitting the current block into a plurality of partitions by a transform block unit for transform coding, and

predicting each partition within the current block by using the intra prediction mode information and decoded pixel values adjacent to the each partition,

wherein the parsed intra prediction mode information of the current block is commonly used for predicting each of the plurality of partitions within the current block.

4. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the decoding apparatus is configured to obtain skip mode indication information of the current block from the video signal, the skip mode indication information specifying whether or not the current block is coded in skip mode,

wherein the block type information of the current block is obtained when the skip mode indication information specifies that the current block is not coded in skip mode.
