Abstract

It is intended to provide a system of predicting the postoperative prognosis in a patient with breast cancer from the viewpoint of gene expression based on the data obtained by genome-wide and comprehensive analysis on gene expression in breast cancer. Expression of human genes is comprehensively analyzed by using a DNA microarray and gene expression functions in various breast cancer conditions are compared, thereby establishing a system of predicting the postoperative prognosis of breast cancer.

Claims (10)

1 - 19 . (canceled)

20 . A method for predicting a postoperative prognosis in node-negative (n0) breast cancer with no metastasis to a lymph node in operation, comprising measuring an expression of galectin 1 gene.

21 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the measurement is performed by using galectin 1 gene and/or a probe specific thereto.

22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the galactin 1 gene/and or the probe are carried on a DNA microarray.

23 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the DNA microarray is a fiber type array.

24 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the measurement is performed using the galectin 1 gene.

25 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the measurement is performed using the probe to the galectin 1 gene and the galectin 1 gene.

26 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the galectin 1 gene is carried on the DNA microarray.

27 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the probe specific to the galectin 1 gene is carried on the DNA microarray.

28 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the galectin 1 gene and the probe specific to the galectin 1 gene are carried on the DNA microarray.
