Abstract

A method and device for producing a battery electrode ( 5 ) by: pouring a powder mixture quantity ( 6 a ) into a cavity ( 2 ), laying an electrically conductive diverter ( 4 ) on powder mixture ( 6 a ), pouring a further quantity ( 6 b ) of same powder mixture ( 6 ) into same cavity ( 2 ), and compressing the two powder mixture quantities ( 6 a, 6 b ). The device has a filling cavity ( 2 ) for powder mixture ( 6 ), at least one compression means ( 1 ) for compressing powder mixture ( 6 ), and support ( 7 ) and fixing means ( 8 ) for positioning and fixing an electrically conductive diverter ( 4 ). The diverter ( 4 ) is situated so that partial quantities ( 6 a, 6 b ) of powder mixture ( 6 ) are located above and below diverter ( 4 ). The support means ( 7 ) and fixing means ( 8 ) are situated in such a way that a ratio of the partial quantities ( 6 a, 6 b ) of powder mixture ( 6 ) above and below the diverter ( 4 ) remains essentially maintained.

Claims (32)

1. A device for producing a battery electrode comprising:

a filling cavity configured to hold a powder mixture that is dry;

at least one compression element configured to compress said powder mixture;

an electrically conductive diverter configured to allow approximately half of said powder mixture to flow through said electrically conductive diverter into said filling cavity;

said filling cavity further configured to position said electrically conductive diverter in a horizontal plane;

wherein said approximately half of said powder mixture coats said electrically conductive diverter on a bottom portion of said electrically conductive diverter and wherein said approximately half of said powder mixture coats said electrically conductive diverter on a top portion of said electrically conductive diverter when said at least one compression element compresses said powder mixture;

a support element configured to support a portion of said electrically conductive diverter that is not to be coated;

a fixing element configured to configured to prevent a second area of said electrically conductive diverter from being coated; and,

wherein said support element comprises a spring-mounted support and wherein said fixing element is configured as a counter support wherein said spring-mounted support and said counter support maintain a ratio of partial quantities above and below said electrically conductive diverter.

2. The device according to claim 1 wherein said filling cavity comprises a multipart matrix.

3. The device according to claim 2 where said multipart matrix comprises two matrices.

4. The device according to claim 1 wherein said at least one compression element comprises a lower plunger and an upper plunger.

5. The device according to claim 4 wherein said lower plunger forms a floor of said filling cavity.

6. The device according to claim 4 wherein said lower plunger and said upper plunger move toward one another during compression.

7. The device according to claim 1 wherein said compression element comprises a single plunger.

8. The device according to claim 1 wherein said support element and said fixing element comprise a multipart matrix that is part of a mold that prevents said portion and said second area of said electrically conductive diverter from being coated.

9. The device according to claim 1 wherein said support element is a spring-mounted pin.

10. A device for producing a battery electrode comprising:

a filling cavity configured to hold a powder mixture that is dry;

at least one compression element configured to compress said powder mixture;

an electrically conductive diverter configured to allow approximately half of said powder mixture to flow through said electrically conductive diverter into said filling cavity when said powder mixture is dosed in its entirety onto said electrically conductive diverter;

said filling cavity further configured to position said electrically conductive diverter in a horizontal plane;

wherein said approximately half of said powder mixture coats said electrically conductive diverter on a bottom portion of said electrically conductive diverter and wherein said approximately half of said powder mixture coats said electrically conductive diverter on a top portion of said electrically conductive diverter when said at least one compression element compresses said powder mixture;

a support element configured to support a portion of said electrically conductive diverter that is not to be coated;

a fixing element configured to configured to prevent a second area of said electrically conductive diverter from being coated; and,

wherein said support element comprises a spring-mounted support and wherein said fixing element is configured as a counter support wherein said spring-mounted support and said counter support maintain a ratio of partial quantities above and below said electrically conductive diverter.

11. The device according to claim 10 wherein said filling cavity comprises a multipart matrix.

12. The device according to claim 11 where said multipart matrix comprises two matrices.

13. The device according to claim 10 wherein said at least one compression element comprises a lower plunger and an upper plunger, wherein said lower plunger and said upper plunger move toward one another during compression and wherein said lower plunger forms a floor of said filling cavity.

14. The device according to claim 10 wherein said compression element comprises a single plunger.

15. The device according to claim 10 wherein said support element and said fixing element comprise a multipart matrix that is part of a mold that prevents said portion and said second area of said electrically conductive diverter from being coated.

16. The device according to claim 10 wherein said support element is a spring-mounted pin.
