PRINTER WITH PRINT HEAD AND INK TRANSFER ROLLER
A printer that has a chassis, a retractable print media tray assembly mounted on the chassis, an ink ejecting printhead assembly configured to eject ink onto an associated ink transfer roller, and at least one cleaning station for removing residual ink from the ink transfer rollers after transfer of ink from the transfer roller onto the print media.
1 . A printer comprising:
a chassis;
a retractable print media tray assembly mounted on the chassis;
an ink ejecting printhead assembly configured to eject ink onto an associated ink transfer roller; and
at least one cleaning station for removing residual ink from the ink transfer rollers after transfer of ink from the transfer roller onto the print media.
2 . A printer as claimed in claim 1 , which includes a pair of printheads, a pair of respective associated ink transfer rollers and a pair of cleaning stations all configured for duplex printing and subsequent cleaning of the ink transfer rollers.
3 . A printer as claimed in claim 2 , wherein each cleaning station has a cleaning sponge and a rubber wiper succeeding the cleaning sponge.
4 . A printer as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the printheads are configured to be parked against the associated transfer rollers when the printheads are not operational.
5 . A printer as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the printheads are retained in an operative position by a solenoid.
6 . A printer as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the chassis has a pair of guide rails on which the print media tray assembly is arranged for extension and retraction, the printer further comprising an optical sensor for sensing stoppage during tray retraction and enabling the tray to be ejected.
7 . A printer as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the print media tray assembly has a print media tray incorporating a spring steel clip to align a stack of print media to one side of the print media tray.
