Modular printhead assembly with connector arrangement
View Patent ↗A printhead assembly has a plurality of printhead modules, each with a plurality of printhead integrated circuits (ICs). The printhead modules also have a print engine controller for controlling the operation of the plurality of printhead ICs. An elongate support frame supports the printhead modules and a connector arrangement is supported by the end plate. The connector has a pair of holes, a first connector extending from the body portion between the holes and a second connector configured to engage with the holes.
1. A printhead assembly comprising:
a plurality of printhead modules, each of the printhead modules having a plurality of printhead integrated circuits (ICs) and a print engine controller for controlling the operation of the plurality of printhead ICs;
an elongate support frame supporting the printhead modules;
an end plate mounted to an end of the support frame; and
a connector arrangement supported by the end plate, the connector having a pair of holes, a first connector extending from a body portion of the connector arrangement between the holes and a second connector configured to engage with the holes.
2. A printhead assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first connector is an electrical connector and the second connector is a fluid delivery connector.
3. A printhead assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the end plate includes two guide recesses in which the connector arrangement is received.
4. An ink ejection printhead as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising an end housing that defines openings and is mounted to the end plate so that the connectors are accessible through respective openings.
5. A printhead assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the support frame defines an elongate channel in which the printhead modules are serially aligned.
6. A printhead assembly as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the first connector is a data connection connector, and the connector arrangement further includes a power supply connector adjacent the data connection connector.
7. A printhead assembly as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the end plate is configured to cradle fluid delivery tubes extending from the fluid delivery connector.
8. A printhead assembly as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the fluid delivery connector includes:
a bridge that extends across the first connector and that bears connection tubes; and
a pair of retaining clips extending from the bridge and that engage with the holes.
