Nipah virus vaccines
View Patent ↗The present invention relates to recombinant anti-Nipah virus vaccines and the administration of such vaccines to animals, advantageously pigs. Advantageously, the anti-Nipah virus vaccine may comprise a recombinant avipox virus containing a Nipah virus glycoprotein gene. The invention encompasses methods of vaccinating animals, advantageously pigs, by administration of anti-Nipah virus vaccines that may comprise a recombinant avipox virus that may contain a Nipah virus glycoprotein gene.
1. A canarypox expression vector comprising a polynucleotide having the sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:15 or SEQ ID NO:16.
2. A fowlpox expression vector comprising a polynucleotide having the sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:18 or SEQ ID NO:19.
3. A formulation comprising the expression vector of claim 1 or 2 and a pharmaceutically or veterinarily acceptable carrier, vehicle or excipient.
4. The formulation of claim 3 , wherein the formulation further comprises an avipox expression vector comprising a polynucleotide having the sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:24, 25, 27 or 28.
5. A method of inducing an immunological or protective response in an animal comprising administering the avipox expression vector of claim 1 or 2 .
6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the animal is selected from the group consisting of pig, cat, dog, and horse.
