Abstract

A photoreceptor comprising a composite structured organic film comprising a plurality of segments and a plurality of linkers arranged as a covalent organic framework, wherein the structured organic film includes a secondary component and may be a multi-segment thick structured organic film.

Claims (33)

1. An imaging member comprising:

a substrate;

a charge generating layer;

a charge transport layer; and

an optional overcoat layer; wherein

the outermost layer is an imaging surface layer that comprises a structured organic film (SOF) comprising a plurality of segments including at least a first segment type and a plurality of linkers including at least a first linker type arranged as a covalent organic framework (COF),

the first linker type comprises at least one atom that is not carbon, wherein the at least one atom of the first linker type that is not carbon is an atom of an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorous, selenium, fluorine, boron, and sulfur,

the SOF comprises a secondary component, and

the SOF is a film.

2. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the charge transport layer is the outermost layer, and the charge transport layer thickness is from about 10 to about 40 microns.

3. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the charge generating layer and the charge transport layer are combined into a single layer with a thickness from about 10 to about 40 microns thick.

4. The imaging member of claim 3 , wherein the single layer is the outermost layer.

5. The imaging member of claim 1 , comprising an overcoat layer, wherein the outermost layer is the overcoat layer, and the overcoat layer thickness is from about 1 to about 10 microns thick.

6. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the charge generating layer absorbs electromagnetic radiation between from about 400 nm to about 800 nm.

7. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the secondary component is selected from the group consisting of conductivity agents, semiconductor agents, antioxidant agents, electron transport agents, hole transport agents, PTFE particles, wax particles, and lubricants.

8. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the secondary component enhances an inclined or inherent property of the SOF.

9. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the secondary component attenuates an inclined or inherent property of the SOF.

10. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the SOF is a substantially defect-free film.

11. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the secondary component is not covalently bound to the SOF.

12. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the SOF comprises between from about 1 to about 40 weight percent of the secondary component.

13. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the secondary components are distributed in a non-uniform manner within the SOF.

14. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the secondary components are uniformly distributed within the SOF.

15. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the secondary components comprise chemical moieties or functional groups that are not bonded to any segments.

16. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the SOF comprises capping units.

17. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the SOF has an added functionality of hole transport or electron transport.

18. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the at least one atom of the first linker type that is not carbon is an atom of an element selected from the group consisting of oxygen, phosphorous, selenium, fluorine, boron, and sulfur.

19. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein

the first segment type comprises at least one atom that is not carbon, wherein the at least one atom of the first segment type that is not carbon is an atom of an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorous, selenium, fluorine, boron, and sulfur; and

the at least one atom of the first linker type that is not carbon is an atom of an element selected from the group consisting of oxygen, phosphorous, selenium, fluorine, boron, and sulfur.

20. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein each of the segment types of the plurality of segments comprises at least one atom that is not carbon, wherein the at least one atom that is not carbon is an atom of an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorous, selenium, fluorine, boron, and sulfur.

21. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein each of the linker types of the plurality of linkers comprises at least one atom that is not carbon, wherein the at least one atom that is not carbon is an atom of an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, oxygen, phosphorous, selenium, fluorine, boron, and sulfur.

22. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein each of the linker types of the plurality of linkers comprises at least one atom that is not carbon, wherein the at least one atom that is not carbon is an atom of an element selected from the group consisting of oxygen, phosphorous, selenium, fluorine, boron, and sulfur.

23. The imaging member of claim 1 , wherein the first segment type comprises at least one atom that is not carbon, wherein the at least one atom of the first segment type that is not carbon is an atom of an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorous, selenium, fluorine, boron, and sulfur.
