Abstract

A light emitting diode (LED) lighting fixture for achieving a desired illumination pattern includes a panel and one or more LEDs attached to a surface of the panel. One or more of the LEDs may be mounted at an angle to the surface.

Claims (38)

1. A LED lighting fixture, comprising:

a panel comprising a planar surface; and

an array of LEDs on a plurality of strips, one or more of the strips being curved in an arc on at least two opposing sides and attached at an angle to the planar surface of the panel with one or more of the LEDs being at an angle to the planar surface; and

wherein two or more of the LED strips on a given panel are set at different angles to the planar surface.

2. A LED lighting fixture, comprising:

a panel comprising a planar surface; and

an array of LEDs on a plurality of strips, one or more of the strips being curved in an arc on at least two opposing sides and attached at an angle to the planar surface of the panel with one or more of the LEDs being at an angle to the planar surface; and

wherein an angle at which a given LED strip is mounted to the panel is variable.

3. A LED lighting fixture, comprising:

at least two connected panels, each panel comprising a planar surface;

one or more strips of LEDs attached to the planar surface of each of the panels and at least one of the strips being curved in an arc on the planar surface of the corresponding panel; and

wherein one of the panels is set at an angle to the other panel.

4. The fixture of claim 3 , wherein at least one of the LED strips is attached at an angle to the planar surface of the corresponding panel to which that LED strip is attached.

5. The fixture of claim 3 , wherein two or more of the LED strips on a given panel are set at different angles from each other, relative to the panel planar surface of the given panel.

6. The fixture of claim 3 , wherein one or more LEDs on at least one of the LED strips is fitted with a secondary optic thereon.

7. The fixture of claim 3 , wherein the panels are connected to one another via a hinge and configured to be set at an angle from a horizontal plane via the hinge.

8. The fixture of claim 3 , wherein the at least one of the strips being curved in an arc is curved on at least two opposing sides.

9. A LED lighting fixture, comprising:

a panel comprising a planar surface; and

an array of LEDs on a plurality of strips, one or more of the strips being curved in an arc on at least two opposing sides and attached at an angle to the planar surface of the panel with one or more of the LEDs being at an angle to the planar surface; and

wherein the arc in which the LED strips are curved is about 15 degrees at a center of the arc.

10. The fixture of claim 9 , wherein the angles at which the LED strips are attached to the planar surface of the panel are between about 25 degrees and about 45 degrees.

11. A LED lighting fixture, comprising:

a panel comprising a planar surface;

an array of LEDs on a plurality of strips, one or more of the strips being curved in an arc and attached at an angle to the planar surface of the panel with one or more of the LEDs being at an angle to the planar surface; and

wherein each LED strip comprises a bar having a side surface on which the LEDs are attached, each bar being curved in the arc.

12. The fixture of claim 11 , wherein the arc in which the bars are curved is about 15 degrees at a center of the arc.

13. The fixture of claim 12 , wherein the angles at which the LED strips are attached to the planar surface of the panel are between about 25 degrees and about 45 degrees.

14. The fixture of claim 11 , wherein two or more of the LED strips on a given panel are set at different angles to the planar surface.

15. The fixture of claim 11 , wherein an angle at which a given LED strip is mounted to the panel is variable.

16. The fixture of claim 11 , wherein one or more LEDs on at least one of the LED strips is fitted with a secondary optic thereon.

17. A LED lighting fixture, comprising:

a panel; and

one or more LEDs arranged on a plurality of LED strips, the LED strips mounted on the panel;

the panel comprising a curved surface so that LEDs on a given LED strip are set at different angles from each other, relative to each other on the panel's curved surface;

wherein secondary optics are disposed on individual LEDs of the LED strips;

wherein the secondary optics on the LEDs on an outer portion of the panel are different from the secondary optics on the LEDs on a center portion of the panel between an interior portion of the panel and the outer portion of the panel; and

wherein the LEDs on the interior portion of the panel have no secondary optics disposed thereon.
