Abstract

A method for evaluating quality of video streams includes: obtaining video streams; obtain coding information of video frames in the video stream; evaluating the single frame quality according to the coding information of the video frames; and evaluating the sequence quality according to the single frame quality evaluation result. An apparatus and a system for evaluating quality are also provided. Thus, the quality of video data packets transmitted in a channel can be predicted accurately, and the single frame quality evaluation result of the video frames can be obtained immediately.

Claims (15)

1. A method for evaluating quality of video streams, comprising:

obtaining video streams;

obtaining coding information of video frames in the video streams;

evaluating single frame quality according to the coding information of the video frames; and

evaluating sequence quality according to the single frame quality evaluation result, wherein evaluating the sequence quality comprises:

calculating the mean value of single frame quality evaluation results within a time segment;

determining a weighted value of the video frames by performing a square operation on the difference between the mean value and the single frame quality evaluation result of the video frames within the time segment; and

performing a weighted average operation on the weighted value and the single frame evaluation result of the video frames within the time segment to obtain the sequence quality evaluation result within the time segment.

2. An apparatus for evaluating quality of video streams, comprising:

a stream analyzing module, configured to obtain video streams from video data packets and obtain coding information of video frames in the video streams;

a single frame quality evaluating module, configured to evaluate single frame quality according to the coding information of the video frames; and

a sequence quality evaluating module, configured to evaluate sequence quality according to the single frame quality evaluation result, wherein the sequence quality evaluating module is further configured to: calculate the mean value of single frame quality evaluation results within a time segment; determine a weighted value of the video frames by performing a square operation on the difference between the mean value and the single frame quality evaluation result of the video frames within the time segment; and perform a weighted average operation on the weighted value and the single frame evaluation result of the video frames within the time segment to obtain the sequence quality evaluation result within the time segment.

3. The apparatus according to claim 2 , further comprising:

a processor; and

a computer readable storage medium storing programming for execution by the processor, wherein the programming stores instructions for one or more of the steps configured to be performed by the stream analyzing module, the single frame quality evaluating module, or the sequence quality evaluating module.
