Abstract

Footwear including a sole, an upper, and a securement arrangement configured to secure the footwear to the foot of a wearer, where the sole and the upper delimit individual toe portions configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of corresponding individual toes of a foot inserted in the footwear, and where the sole includes contouring and curvature which intimately corresponds to the shape of the foot.

Claims (95)

1. Footwear, comprising:

a sole; and

an upper;

wherein the sole and the upper delimit individual toe portions configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of corresponding individual toes of a foot inserted in the footwear; and

wherein the sole includes an extension portion which extends upwardly around at least a portion the foot;

wherein the extension portion of the sole comprises a sole toe extension which extends around a front of at least one of said individual toe portions and which extends over at least a portion of a toe nail area of said individual toe portion;

wherein the footwear comprises five of said toe portions, each toe portion being configured to receive a single toe of the foot inserted into the footwear.

2. Footwear, comprising:

a sole; and

an upper;

wherein the sole and the upper delimit first and second individual toe portions configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of corresponding first and second individual toes of a foot inserted in the footwear; and

wherein the sole includes an extension portion which extends upwardly around at least a portion the foot;

wherein the extension portion of the sole comprises a sole toe extension which extends around a front of at least one of said individual toe portions and which extends over at least a portion of a toe nail area of said individual toe portion;

wherein the footwear comprises a third individual toe portion configured to receive more than one toe of the foot inserted into the footwear.

3. The footwear as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the big toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the big toe.

4. The footwear as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the little toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the little toe.

5. Footwear, comprising:

a sole; and

an upper;

wherein the sole and the upper delimit first and second individual toe portions configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of corresponding first and second individual toes of a foot inserted in the footwear; and

wherein the sole includes an extension portion which extends upwardly around at least a portion the foot;

wherein the extension portion of the sole comprises a sole toe extension which extends around a front of at least one of said individual toe portions and which extends over at least a portion of a toe nail area of said individual toe portion;

wherein the toe nail area of the individual toe portion comprises an area disposed at the front of the respective toe portion.

6. The footwear as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the big toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the big toe.

7. The footwear as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the little toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the little toe.

8. Footwear, comprising:

a sole; and

an upper;

wherein the sole and the upper delimit first and second individual toe portions configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of corresponding first and second individual toes of a foot inserted in the footwear; and

wherein the sole includes an extension portion which extends upwardly around at least a portion the foot;

wherein the extension portion of the sole comprises a sole toe extension which extends around a front of at least one of said individual toe portions and which extends over at least a portion of a toe nail area of said individual toe portion;

wherein the toe nail area of the individual toe portion comprises an area forward of a distal edge of a toe nail of the toe inserted into the individual toe portion.

9. The footwear as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the big toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the big toe.

10. The footwear as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the little toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the little toe.

11. Footwear, comprising:

a sole; and

an upper;

wherein the sole and the upper delimit first and second individual toe portions configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of corresponding first and second individual toes of a foot inserted in the footwear; and

wherein the sole includes an extension portion which extends upwardly around at least a portion the foot;

wherein the extension portion of the sole comprises a sole toe extension which extends around a front of at least one of said individual toe portions and which extends over at least a portion of a toe nail area of said individual toe portion;

wherein the sole toe extension extends upwardly from a bottom of the footwear and terminates at the front of the individual toe portion.

12. The footwear as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the big toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the big toe.

13. The footwear as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the little toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the little toe.

14. Footwear, comprising:

a sole; and

an upper;

wherein the sole and the upper delimit first and second individual toe portions configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of corresponding first and second individual toes of a foot inserted in the footwear; and

wherein the sole includes an extension portion which extends upwardly around at least a portion the foot;

wherein the extension portion of the sole comprises a sole toe extension which extends around a front of at least one of said individual toe portions and which extends over at least a portion of a toe nail area of said individual toe portion;

wherein the sole toe extension extends upwardly from a bottom of the footwear and terminates at the front of the toe portion adjacent to a distal edge of a toe nail of the toe inserted into the respective individual toe portion.

15. The footwear as claimed in claim 14 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the big toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the big toe.

16. The footwear as claimed in claim 14 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the little toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the little toe.

17. Footwear, comprising:

a sole; and

an upper;

wherein the sole and the upper delimit first and second individual toe portions configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of corresponding first and second individual toes of a foot inserted in the footwear; and

wherein the sole includes an extension portion which extends upwardly around at least a portion the foot;

wherein the extension portion of the sole comprises a sole toe extension which extends around a front of at least one of said individual toe portions and which extends over at least a portion of a toe nail area of said individual toe portion;

wherein the toe nail area comprises a portion of a top of the toe nail area.

18. The footwear as claimed in claim 17 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the big toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the big toe.

19. The footwear as claimed in claim 17 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the little toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the little toe.

20. Footwear, comprising:

a sole; and

an upper;

wherein the sole and the upper delimit first and second individual toe portions configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of corresponding first and second individual toes of a foot inserted in the footwear; and

wherein the sole includes an extension portion which extends upwardly around at least a portion the foot;

wherein the extension portion of the sole comprises a sole toe extension which extends around a front of at least one of said individual toe portions and which extends over at least a portion of a toe nail area of said individual toe portion;

wherein the toe nail area comprises a portion of a front of the toe nail area.

21. The footwear as claimed in claim 20 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the big toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the big toe.

22. The footwear as claimed in claim 20 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the little toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the little toe.

23. Footwear, comprising:

a sole; and

an upper;

wherein the sole and the upper delimit first and second individual toe portions configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of corresponding first and second individual toes of a foot inserted in the footwear; and

wherein the sole includes an extension portion which extends upwardly around at least a portion the foot;

wherein the extension portion of the sole comprises a sole toe extension which extends around a front of at least one of said individual toe portions and which extends over at least a portion of a toe nail area of said individual toe portion;

wherein the toe nail area comprises a portion of a side of the toe nail area.

24. The footwear as claimed in claim 23 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the big toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the big toe.

25. The footwear as claimed in claim 23 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the little toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the little toe.

26. Footwear, comprising:

a sole; and

an upper;

wherein the sole and the upper delimit first and second individual toe portions configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of corresponding first and second individual toes of a foot inserted in the footwear; and

wherein the sole includes an extension portion which extends upwardly around at least a portion the foot;

wherein the extension portion of the sole comprises a sole toe extension which extends around a front of at least one of said individual toe portions and which extends over at least a portion of a toe nail area of said individual toe portion;

wherein the footwear comprises a third individual toe portion configured to receive two or three toes of the foot inserted into the footwear.

27. The footwear as claimed in claim 26 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the big toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the big toe.

28. The footwear as claimed in claim 26 , wherein the first individual toe corresponds to the little toe of the foot and the second individual toe corresponds to the toe on the foot adjacent to the little toe.

29. Footwear, comprising:

a sole; and

an upper;

wherein the sole and the upper delimit at least a first and a second individual toe portion configured to receive, retain, and allow independent articulation of a corresponding first individual toe and a corresponding second individual toe of a foot inserted in the footwear; and

wherein the sole includes an extension portion which extends upwardly around at least a portion the foot;

wherein the extension portion of the sole comprises a sole toe extension which extends around a front of at least one of said individual toe portions and which extends over at least a portion of a toe nail area of said individual toe portion;

wherein the footwear comprises a third individual toe portion configured to receive more than one toe of the foot inserted into the footwear.
