Abstract

Provided are systems, methods, and machine-readable storage media for presenting animations overlying multimedia files in accordance with the present disclosure. Embodiments are described for linking an animation to a multimedia file and presenting the animation overlying a concurrent playback of the multimedia file (e.g., its content). Embodiments are described for including additional elements to the presentation of the animation outside of the playback of the animation, including residual elements that relate to the content of the animation and/or allow a user to receive further information about the content of the animation. Embodiments are described for linking an animation to more than one multimedia file.

Claims (72)

1. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium with a first executable program stored thereon, wherein the first executable program contains instructions for a microprocessor to perform the following:

selecting, by the microprocessor, a first trigger related to a multimedia file of a plurality of multimedia files and a first time code related to the first trigger, the first trigger linked to an animation via linking instructions;

preparing, by the microprocessor, an instruction to play the animation overlying the multimedia file beginning from a first placement point and at the first time code;

transmitting, by the microprocessor, the instruction to a multimedia player configured to play the multimedia file,

wherein the animation is configured to trigger a display of a residual image associated with the animation, the residual image displayed in a distinct showcase portion of the multimedia player after completing the animation, the distinct showcase portion different than an area displayed by the multimedia player used to play the multimedia file and the animation, the display of the residual image based on the linking instructions;

instructing, by the microprocessor, the multimedia player to present, at a second time code separated by a predetermined time from the first time code, a fulfillment link related to the animation in an extended palette section of the multimedia player;

presenting, by the microprocessor, a first cost associated with linking the animation with each of the plurality of multimedia files, which is a first plurality of multimedia files;

receiving, by the microprocessor, a selection of a second cost, less than the first cost;

determining, by the microprocessor, a second plurality of multimedia files based on the second cost; and

preparing, by the microprocessor, a second plurality of instructions for the multimedia player to link the animation with each of the second plurality of multimedia files.

2. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the first trigger is a word included in a transcript of an audio portion of the multimedia file.

3. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the animation is configured to play at a plurality of placement points, including the first placement point, at a respective one of an associated plurality of time codes.

4. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the animation is configured to cease playing over the multimedia file at an ending time code.

5. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the animation is configured to trigger the display of the residual image in a list with at least one other residual image related to an earlier-played animation.

6. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , further including instructions for the microprocessor to perform the following:

receiving a selection of the residual image; and

instructing the multimedia player to present a fulfillment link in an extended palette section of the multimedia player.

7. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , further including instructions for the microprocessor to perform the following:

receiving a selection of a fulfillment link; and

instructing the multimedia player to connect to a network and perform fulfillment instructions associated with the fulfillment link.

8. A method, comprising:

receiving, by a processor, content information relating to a multimedia file of a plurality of multimedia files, the content information including a plurality of placement points and a plurality of time codes, each placement point containing at least two spatial coordinates, wherein the plurality of placement points comprises a first placement point, and the plurality of time codes comprises a first time code, the content information linked to a multi-dimensionally linked animation (MLA) via linking instructions;

transmitting an instruction to a multimedia player to initiate playing, beginning at the first time code and located at the first placement point, of the multi-dimensionally linked animation (MLA) on a visual layer overlaying the multimedia file, wherein the instruction includes the first placement point and the first time code,

wherein the animation is configured to trigger a display of a residual image associated with the animation, the residual image displayed in a distinct showcase portion of the multimedia player after completing the animation, the distinct showcase portion different than an area displayed by the multimedia player used to play the multimedia file and the animation, the display of the residual image based on the linking instructions;

instructing, by the processor, the multimedia player to present, at a second time code separated by a predetermined time from the first time code, a fulfillment link related to the animation in an extended palette section of the multimedia player;

presenting, by the processor, a first cost associated with linking the animation with each of the plurality of multimedia files, which is a first plurality of multimedia files;

receiving, by the processor, a selection of a second cost, less than the first cost

determining, by the processor, a second plurality of multimedia files based on the second cost; and

preparing, by the processor, a second plurality of instructions for the multimedia player to link the animation with each of the second plurality of multimedia files.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

receiving storage information about the multimedia file indicating that the multimedia file is stored in a storage configured to make the multimedia file capable for playing by a computing machine operating a multimedia player;

wherein transmitting the instruction to the multimedia player is performed in response to receiving the storage information.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the instruction further includes a requirement of the multimedia player to play the MLA beginning at the first time code only if the multimedia player reaches the first time code of the multimedia file in a normal playback mode of the multimedia player.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the linking instructions include an instruction for the multimedia player to:

maintain the residual image for a predetermined period of time; and

after the predetermined period of time, present fulfillment information relating to a product or service advertised by the residual image.

12. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

transmitting a fulfillment instruction to the multimedia player to:

enable a selection from a user of a fulfillment link related to the MLA; and

request purchasing details about a product or service related to the MLA.

13. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium with a first executable program stored thereon, wherein the first executable program contains instructions for a microprocessor to perform the following:

presenting, by the microprocessor, an advertisement selection interface including a representation of a plurality of multimedia files and a selected common selection criterion related to each of the plurality of multimedia files;

presenting, by the microprocessor, an indication of a placement point and a time code of a multimedia file, the multimedia file included in the plurality of multimedia files;

receiving, by the microprocessor, a selection of the placement point and the time code in the first multimedia file;

preparing, by the microprocessor, an instruction for a multimedia player to link a playing of an animation with a concurrent playing of the first multimedia file at the first placement point and the first time code,

wherein the animation is configured to trigger a display of a residual image associated with the animation, the residual image displayed in a distinct showcase portion of the multimedia player after completing the animation, the distinct showcase portion different than an area displayed by the multimedia player used to play the multimedia file and the animation, the display of the residual image based on the instruction;

instructing, by the microprocessor, the multimedia player to present, at a second time code separated by a predetermined time from the first time code, a fulfillment link related to the animation in an extended palette section of the multimedia player;

presenting, by the microprocessor, a first cost associated with linking the animation with each of the plurality of multimedia files, which is a first plurality of multimedia files;

receiving, by the microprocessor, a selection of a second cost, less than the first cost;

determining, by the microprocessor, a second plurality of multimedia files based on the second cost; and

preparing, by the microprocessor, a second plurality of instructions for the multimedia player to link the animation with each of the second plurality of multimedia files.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein each of the plurality of multimedia files includes a common trigger.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the common trigger is a word included in a transcript of an audio portion of the first multimedia file.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , further including instructions for the microprocessor to perform the following:

based on the received selection of the placement point and the time code, preparing a first plurality of instructions for the multimedia player to link the animation with each of the plurality of multimedia files.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , further including instructions for the microprocessor to perform the following:

receiving a selection of a second placement point and a third time code in a second multimedia file of the plurality of multimedia files; and

preparing a second instruction for the multimedia player to link a playing of the animation with a concurrent playing of the second multimedia file at the second placement point and the third time code.

18. A method, comprising:

presenting, via a multimedia player, a multimedia file of a plurality of multimedia files;

determining that a content item is presented as part of the multimedia file;

matching the content item to a trigger, the trigger linked to an animation via linking instructions;

in response to the matching, presenting, via the multimedia player, the animation overlying the multimedia file, wherein the presenting the animation is coordinated to begin when the content item is presented,

wherein the animation is configured to trigger a display of a residual image associated with the animation, the residual image displayed in a distinct showcase portion of the multimedia player after completing the animation, the distinct showcase portion different than an area displayed by the multimedia player used to play the multimedia file and the animation, the display of the residual image based on the linking instructions;

instructing, by a processor, the multimedia player to present a fulfillment link related to the animation in an extended palette section of the multimedia player;

presenting, by the processor, a first cost associated with linking the animation with each of the plurality of multimedia files, which is a first plurality of multimedia files;

receiving, by the processor, a selection of a second cost, less than the first cost;

determining, by the processor, a second plurality of multimedia files based on the second cost; and

preparing, by the processor, a second plurality of instructions for the multimedia player to link the animation with each of the second plurality of multimedia files.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the determining that the content item is presented is performed at a predetermined time code of the multimedia file.

20. The method of claim 18 , wherein the determining that the content item is presented is performed via transcribing an audio portion of the multimedia file.

21. The method of claim 18 , wherein the trigger is a word in an audio track of the multimedia file.
