Abstract

A camera unit includes a display for displaying an image to be captured; an image sensor for digitally capturing the displayed image; a card reader having a linear scanner for scanning a surface of a removable card to sense a plurality of dots printed on the surface of the removable card, the plurality of dots representing a bit pattern encoding a program script; a card interface for receiving a signal from the card reader indicative of the sensed plurality of dots printed on the surface of the card, and decoding the sensed plurality of dots into the program script; and a printer configured to print a distorted image on print media, the distorted image being a version of the captured image distorted in accordance with the program script.

Claims (14)

1. A camera unit comprising:

a display for displaying an image to be captured;

an image sensor for digitally capturing the displayed image;

a card reader having a linear scanner for scanning a surface of a removable card to sense a plurality of dots printed on the surface of the removable card, the plurality of dots representing a bit pattern encoding a program script;

a card interface for receiving a signal from the card reader indicative of the sensed plurality of dots printed on the surface of the card, and decoding the sensed plurality of dots into the program script; and

a printer configured to print a distorted image on print media, the distorted image being a version of the captured image distorted in accordance with the program script.

2. A camera unit as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the printer includes a replaceable print roll unit carrying both the print media and ink to be printed upon the print media.

3. A camera unit as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the print roll unit includes:

an elongate core having a plurality of ink supply containers, each for containing a respective type of the ink; and

a roll of print media including a tubular former in which the core can be received and a length of the print media which is wound upon the former.

4. A camera unit as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the print roll unit further includes:

a casing including a pair of molded covers which can be releasably fastened together to encase the roll of print media, and defining a print media exit slot; and

a pair of pinch rollers each rotationally mounted to the casing, and configured to feed print media from the former out through the exit slot.
