Method for Ranking Creative Assets and Serving those Ranked Assets into an Online Image and or Text-Based-Editor
In a networked system for creating and editing image and or text-based-based projects, the system including a graphics user interface (GUI) residing on and executable from a digital medium, the GUI hosted by a Web site accessible by computer browser and a network-connected data repository containing creative assets not limited to stickers, shapes, backgrounds, layouts, and frames, an asset recommendation system implemented in software integrated with the GUI for presenting certain assets to users operating the GUI by hierarchical order of importance and/or by relativity to current assets being used. The system has a receiving function for receiving server calls relative to user GUI activity, a weighting function for ranking creative assets based on input against one or more rules for ranking asset appeal, and a server function for serving the recommended assets into the GUI.

In a networked system for creating and editing image and or text-based-based projects, the system including a graphics user interface (GUI) residing on and executable from a digital medium, the GUI hosted by a Web site accessible by computer browser and a network-connected data repository containing creative assets not limited to stickers, shapes, backgrounds, layouts, and frames, an asset recommendation system implemented in software integrated with the GUI for presenting certain assets to users operating the GUI by hierarchical order of importance and/or by relativity to current assets being used comprising:
a receiving function for receiving server calls relative to user GUI activity;
a weighting function for ranking creative assets based on input against one or more rules for ranking asset appeal; and
a server function for serving the recommended assets into the GUI.
2 . The system of claim 1 wherein the network is the Internet network.
3 . The system of claim 1 wherein the image and or text-based projects include but are not limited to a calendar, a photo-book, or a photo-card.
4 . The system of claim 1 wherein creative assets further include text boxes, photo-slots, and colors.
5 . The system of claim 1 wherein asset recommendations are made to a user while that user is working within the GUI.
6 . The system of claim 1 wherein creative assets are recommended according to context of a current project being edited.
7 . The system of claim 1 wherein creative assets are recommended from another project that a current project being edited shares a theme category with.
8 . The system of claim 1 wherein creative assets are recommended according to popularity determined by number of times the asset has been used by a defined group of users.
9 . The system of claim 1 wherein the weighting function works in the background to assign ranking weight values to creative assets for service into the GUI according to the established hierarchy.
10 . The system of claim 1 wherein each creative asset has a score card that reflects the asset value, weight, or rank, the score card periodically updated to reflect the latest value of the asset.

In a networked system for creating and editing image-based projects, the system including a graphics user interface (GUI) residing on and executable from a digital medium, the GUI hosted by a Web site accessible by computer browser and a network-connected data repository containing creative assets not limited to stickers, shapes, backgrounds, layouts, and frames, a method for determining and presenting most relevant creative assets to a user editing a project or project page comprising the steps:
(a) receiving an indication of a user selection of a project or project page for edit at an asset recommendation engine;
(b) calculating or updating current scores for the assets that qualify for service based on project, project page, and theme-based characteristics; and
(c) serving the assets into the GUI asset browsing windows with the most relevant assets based on analyzed score served first followed by lesser relevant assets.
12 . The method of claim 11 wherein in step (a), the asset recommendation engine includes the receiving function, the weighting function, and the serving function.
13 . The method of claim 12 wherein the weighting function depends upon the results from system consultation with one or more pre-configured rules governing weighting of assets.
14 . The method of claim 11 wherein in step (b), each asset has a scorecard that is periodically updated to reflect the latest weighting value of that asset.

The method of claim 11 wherein in step (b), wherein the creative assets are photos or images and the associated scores are derived at least in part as a result of analyzing tags associated to those photos or images, descriptions associated to those photos or images, and captions associated with those photos or images.
16 . The method of claim 11 wherein in step (c), the creative assets further include text boxes, photo-slots, and colors.
17 . The method of claim 11 wherein in step (c), the asset browsing windows are located in the sidebar area of the GUI.
18 . The method of claim 11 wherein in the creative assets are stored in a third-party data repository accessible to the server hosting the GUI.
