Abstract

In a server-based system for creating and editing image and or text-based projects, the system having access to a digital medium containing an executable graphics user interface (GUI) accessible by computer browser, a method for automatically previewing edits to text items within the image-based project includes the steps (a) selecting or highlighting a text item within the project, (b) automatically displaying a text editing toolbar as a result of the action of step (a), the toolbar including controls for editing at least one of font style, font size, font justification, and font color, and (c) selecting one of the controls of step (b) and mousing over a menu option.

Claims (24)

1 . In a server-based system for creating and editing image and or text-based projects, the system having access to a digital medium containing an executable graphics user interface (GUI) accessible by computer browser, a method for automatically previewing edits to text items within the image-based project comprising the steps:

(a) selecting or highlighting a text item within the project;

(b) automatically displaying a text editing toolbar as a result of the action of step (a), the toolbar including controls for editing at least one of font style, font size, font justification, and font color; and

(c) selecting one of the controls of step (b) and mousing over a menu option.

2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the data network is the internet network.

3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the GUI is hosted by a Website.

4 . The method of claim 1 wherein in step (a) the text item is a caption relating to an image.

5 . The method of claim 1 wherein in step (a) the text item is text within a text box.

6 . The method of claim 1 wherein in step (a) the project is a photo book and the text item is a title or a label on the front cover, back cover, or spine thereof.

7 . The method of claim 1 wherein in step (b) font color includes text color and text background color.

8 . The method of claim 1 wherein in step (c) mousing off of the menu item removes the effect from the text being edited.

9 . The method of claim 1 wherein in step (b) the toolbar further includes a control that invokes a styles interface containing controls for applying visual effects to text.

10 . The method of claim 9 wherein the visual effects include three dimensional printing effects.

11 . The method of claim 9 wherein the visual effects include reflection, shadow, and glow effects.

In a server-based system for creating and editing image-based projects, the system having access to a digital medium containing an executable graphics user interface (GUI) accessible by computer browser, a method for automatically previewing edits to graphics items within the image-based project comprising the steps:

(a) selecting or highlighting a graphic within the project;

(b) automatically displaying a graphics editing toolbar as a result of the action of step (a), the toolbar including a styles interface having controls for applying at least shadow effect, reflective effect, border style, blur effect, transparency effect, shapes effect, color saturation, hue, brightness, and contrast; and

(c) selecting one of the controls of step (b) and mousing over a menu option.

13 . The method of claim 12 wherein the data network is the internet network.

14 . The method of claim 12 wherein the GUI is hosted by a Website.

15 . The method of claim 12 wherein in step (a) the graphic is a shape or a sticker.

16 . The method of claim 12 wherein in step (a) the graphic is a photo.

17 . The method of claim 12 wherein in step (b) the styles further include the image effects sepia, antique, and B&W.

18 . The method of claim 12 wherein in step (c) mousing off of the menu option removes the effect from the graphic.
