Abstract

In one embodiment, a hydrophilic member includes a substrate having a surface and particles existing at least on the surface of the substrate. The particles are constituted of at least one selected from tungsten oxide particles and tungsten oxide composite particles. The substrate surface on which the particles exist has an arithmetic mean roughness Ra in the range of 1 nm to 1000 nm with a reference length of 100 μm, and exhibits hydrophilicity independently of light.

Claims (25)

1 . A hydrophilic member, comprising:

a substrate having a surface; and

particles existing at least on the surface of the substrate, the particles being at least one selected from tungsten oxide particles and tungsten oxide composite particles,

wherein the surface has an arithmetic mean roughness Ra in a range of 1 nm to 1000 nm with a reference length of 100 μm, and exhibits hydrophilicity independently of light.

2 . The hydrophilic member according to claim 1 ,

wherein the particles exist in the surface in a state that a crystal direction is not oriented.

3 . The hydrophilic member according to claim 1 ,

wherein a mean particle diameter of the particles is in a range of 1 nm to 200 nm.

4 . The hydrophilic member according to claim 1 ,

wherein a BET specific surface area of the particles is in a range of 4.1 m 2 /g to 820 m 2 /g.

5 . The hydrophilic member according to claim 1 ,

wherein the tungsten oxide composite includes a transition metal element in a range of 0.001 mass % to 50 mass %.

6 . The hydrophilic member according to claim 1 ,

wherein the tungsten oxide composite includes at least one metal element selected from titanium, zirconium, manganese, iron, palladium, platinum, copper, silver, zirconium, aluminum, and cerium in a range of 0.001 mass % to 50 mass %.

7 . The hydrophilic member according to claim 1 ,

wherein the tungsten oxide composite includes at least one metal element selected from copper, silver, and zirconium in a range of 0.001 mass % to 1 mass %.

8 . The hydrophilic member according to claim 6 ,

wherein the metal element is included in the tungsten oxide composite in at least one form selected from a single element, a compound, and a complex compound with tungsten oxide.

9 . The hydrophilic member according to claim 1 ,

wherein a film containing the particles is formed on the surface of the substrate.

10 . The hydrophilic member according to claim 9 ,

wherein the film contains a binder component of at least one selected from an inorganic binder and an organic binder.

11 . The hydrophilic member according to claim 1 ,

wherein the surface exhibits photocatalytic performance under irradiation with visible light.

12 . A hydrophilic product comprising the hydrophilic member according to claim 1 .
