Abstract

Products and processes are disclosed for receiving a lottery record associated with a sale of a lottery ticket. The lottery record includes a plurality of lottery numbers, and a condition for creating at least one entry that includes the lottery numbers in a lottery drawing. It is determined that the condition is satisfied and the at least one entry in the lottery drawing is created.

Claims (68)

1 . A method for selectively entering lottery selections into a lottery drawing, the method comprising

receiving, by a lottery server in communication with at least one lottery terminal, a lottery record associated with a sale of a lottery ticket, in which the lottery record includes

a plurality of lottery numbers, and

at least one condition for activating in a lottery drawing at least one entry that includes the lottery numbers, in which the at least one condition comprises one or more of the following:

a condition specifying that the at least one entry be activated only if a lottery jackpot is not less than a predetermined threshold,

a condition specifying that the at least one entry be activated only if there was no jackpot winner during a predetermined number of prior lottery drawings,

a condition specifying that the at least one entry be activated only if there was no jackpot winner during a predetermined period of time,

a condition specifying that the at least one entry be activated only if at least a predetermined number of tickets are sold for the lottery drawing,

a condition specifying that the at least one entry be activated only if a previous winning lottery ticket was purchased at a predetermined location, and

a condition specifying that the at least one entry be activated only upon occurrence of a predefined sports event;

determining, by the lottery server, that the at least one condition is satisfied; and

activating, by the lottery server, the at least one entry in the lottery drawing after determining that the at least one condition was satisfied.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

storing the plurality of lottery numbers and the at least one condition for activating at least one lottery entry in a database.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one entry is activated automatically a predefined number of times that the at least one condition is satisfied.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one entry is activated automatically each time that the at least one condition is satisfied until the lottery ticket is cancelled.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining, by the lottery server, that the at least one condition is satisfied a second time; and

activating, by the lottery server, the at least one entry in a second lottery drawing that is subsequent to the lottery drawing.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

validating the plurality of lottery numbers and the at least one condition; and

transmitting to a lottery terminal an indication that the plurality of lottery numbers and the at least one condition have been validated.

7 . A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions configured to direct a computing device to perform a method for selectively entering lottery selections into a lottery drawing, the method comprising:
