RECORDING/REPRODUCING DEVICE

1 . A recording and playback apparatus capable of recording a content downloaded from a server to a recording medium, and playing back the content, comprising:

a download recording unit configured to download the content stored in the server and record the content to the recording medium as a download content; and

an erasing unit configured to erase the download content or the broadcast content recorded in the recording medium,

wherein the erasing unit determines whether the content can be erased or not based on attribute related to erasure of the content,

the download recording unit sets the attribute related to erasure to a value indicating prohibition of erasure, when recording the download content to the recording medium.

4 . The recording and playback apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein after the playback of the download content is completed, the attribute related to erasure for the download content is changed from a value indicating prohibition of erasure to a value indicating allowance of erasure.

5 . A recording and playback apparatus capable of recording a content downloaded from a server to a recording medium, and playing back the content, comprising:

a recording unit configured to download the content stored in the server and record the content to the recording medium;

a request accepting unit configured to accept a request from a user for editing of the downloaded content; and

an editing unit configured to edit the content recorded in the recording medium based on the request from the user,

wherein the request accepting unit does not accept the request for editing of the content while the recording unit is downloading the content.

6 . The recording and playback apparatus according to claim 5 , further comprising a display data generating unit configured to generate data of a list image for displaying a list of information of contents, for a part or whole of contents recorded in the recording medium,

wherein the display data generating unit generates data of a list image for editing items for the content being downloaded, and in the list image for editing items, the editing unit displays the editing items which can not be edited by the editing unit in a method different from a method for editing items which can be edited by the editing unit.

7 . The recording and playback apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein the request accepting unit accepts the request from the user while the download of the content is stopped, even though the recording unit does not complete the download of the content.

8 . The recording and playback apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a broadcast recording unit configured to record a broadcast program received via a broadcast wave to the recording medium as a broadcast content, wherein

the erasing unit can further erase the broadcast content, and

the broadcast recording unit sets the attribute related to erasure to a value indicating allowance of erasure, when recording the broadcast content to the recording medium.

9 . The recording and playback apparatus according to claim 8 , further comprising an erasure-prohibition canceling unit configured to change the attribute related to erasure from a value indicating prohibition of erasure to a value indicating allowance of erasure.

The recording and playback apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein after an instruction for starting playback of the download content is received, the attribute related to erasure for the download content is changed from a value indicating prohibition of erasure to a value indicating allowance of erasure.
