Therapeutic or preventive agents for ischemic nerve injury containing as the active ingredient compounds represented by the general formula [2]: wherein R 1 and R 4 are each independently hydrogen, carboxy, or alkoxycarbonyl; and R 2 and R 5 are each independently hydrogen, hydroxy group, or acyloxy group.
1 . A method for treating or preventing ischemic nerve injury due to nerve cell death by ischemic disorder, comprising administering an effective amount of a compound represented by formula [22]:

2 . A method for suppressing nerve cell death by ischemic disorder, comprising administering an effective amount of a compound represented by formula [22]:
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to a subject in need thereof.
