Abstract

The present invention relates generally to a method and system for communicating over a telecommunications network between a service provider and one or more users, wherein the service provider has access to multiple distinct addresses in the telecommunications network and each user is identified by an address, more specifically where a first message can be sent over at least a portion of the telecommunications network to a user's address, the reply address of the message having a first reply address selected from the multiple distinct addresses and determining, based on a reply from a user's address to the first reply address, a second message and a second reply address, wherein the second reply address can be selected from the available multiple distinct addresses and is distinct from the first reply address.

Claims (29)

1. A method comprising:

communicating over a telecommunications network between a service provider and one or more users, wherein the service provider has access to multiple distinct addresses in the telecommunications network and each user is identified by an address;

causing a first message to be sent over at least a portion of the telecommunications network to a user's address,

wherein the first message has a first reply address selected from the multiple distinct addresses;

determining, based on a reply from the user's address to the first reply address, a second message and a second reply address, wherein the second reply address is selected from the available multiple distinct addresses and is distinct from the first reply address; and

causing the second message to be sent over at least a portion of the telecommunications network to the user's address, the reply address of the second message being the second reply address.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising causing the first message to be sent over at least a portion of the telecommunications network to at least one additional user's address, the reply address of each first message being the first reply address.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the determined second message and second reply address, for each user which replies in same or similar manner to the first message, are the same.

4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of first messages are sent at substantially the same time to the plurality of users.

5. The method of claim 2 , wherein a plurality of first messages are sent at different times to the plurality of users.

6. The method of claim 3 , wherein one or more second messages are sent from the second reply address at different times.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the first message is sent to at least one user from the first reply address at a time after a second message has been sent to at least one user from the second reply address.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising; storing, for each message sent, the user's address and the reply address.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one reply address is selected for a user from the available multiple distinct addresses so that it is compatible with the user's address.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising; causing the first message to be sent over at least a portion of the telecommunications network to at least one additional user's address, the reply address of each first message being selected for each user so that it is compatible with the user's address.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first reply address, the second reply address and the user's address are all unique phone numbers.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein determining the first and second reply addresses includes determining a portion of the telecommunications network that each user's address is a part of and selecting an available reply address which is a part of the same or compatible portion of the telecommunications network.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the first reply address and the second reply address are short numbers compatible with the operator of the portion of the telecommunications network that the a user's address belongs to or is compatible with.

14. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first message contains one or more response options.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein at least one of the one or more response options is a single character response.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the content of the second message is chosen or created based on the response selected by the user from the one or more response options.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the second reply address is selected based on the response selected by the first user from the one or more response options.

18. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one message is an SMS message, MMS message or e-mail message.
