Abstract

A dispensing system for texture material includes a main container, a secondary container, and a conduit. The main container stores texture material. The secondary container stores pressurized propellant material. The conduit is operatively connected between the main container and the secondary container. The conduit allows pressurized propellant material to flow from the secondary container to the main container, thereby forcing texture material out of the main container.

Claims (89)

1 . An outlet assembly for a spray dispenser, comprising:

an actuator member, where the actuator member comprises

a stem portion,

a first displacement surface portion, and

at least one finger;

an outlet member defining an outlet opening, where the outlet member is deformable;

an adjustment member defining a second displacement surface portion and an adjustment edge; whereby

the outlet member is arranged adjacent to the actuator member such that

the outlet member and the actuator member define a dispensing path, and

the outlet member is adjacent to the at least one finger;

the adjustment member is arranged relative to the actuator member such that

the first and second displacement surfaces engage each other, and

the adjustment edge is in contact with the at least one finger; and

movement of the adjustment member relative to the actuator member displaces the adjustment member relative to the actuator member to cause the adjustment edge to deform the at least one finger; and

as the adjustment edge deforms the at least one finger, the at least one finger deforms the outlet member to alter a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.

2 . An outlet assembly for a spray dispenser, comprising:

an actuator member, where the actuator member comprises

a stem portion, and

an adjustment edge;

an outlet member defining an outlet opening, where the outlet member is deformable;

a first adjustment member defining

a first displacement surface portion, and

at least one finger; and

a second adjustment member defining a second displacement surface portion; wherein

the outlet member is arranged adjacent to the actuator member and

the first adjustment member such that

the outlet member, the actuator member, and the first adjustment member define a dispensing path,

the outlet member is adjacent to the at least one finger, and

the adjustment edge is in contact with the at least one finger;

the second adjustment member is arranged relative to the first adjustment member such that the first and second displacement surfaces engage each other; and

movement of the first adjustment member relative to the second adjustment member displaces the first adjustment member relative to the actuator member to cause the adjustment edge to deform the at least one finger; and

as the adjustment edge deforms the at least one finger, the at least one finger deforms the outlet member to alter a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.

3 . An outlet assembly for a spray dispenser, comprising:

an actuator member, where the actuator member comprises

a stem portion, and

at least one finger;

an outlet member defining an outlet opening, where the outlet member is deformable;

a first adjustment member defining

a first displacement surface portion, and

an adjustment edge; and

a second adjustment member defining a second displacement surface portion; wherein

the outlet member is arranged adjacent to the actuator member such that

the outlet member and the actuator member define a dispensing path,

the outlet member is adjacent to the at least one finger;

the first adjusting member is arranged adjacent to the actuator member such that the adjustment edge is in contact with the at least one finger;

the second adjustment member is arranged relative to the first adjustment member such that the first and second displacement surfaces engage each other; and

movement of the first adjustment member relative to the second adjustment member displaces the first adjustment member relative to the actuator member to cause the adjustment edge to deform the at least one finger; and

as the adjustment edge deforms the at least one finger, the at least one finger deforms the outlet member to alter a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.

4 . An outlet assembly for a spray dispenser, comprising:

an actuator member defining a stem portion and a mounting portion;

an outlet member adapted to be supported by the mounting portion of the actuator member, where the outlet member

is deformable, and

defines an outlet passageway and an outlet opening;

a clamp member comprising at least one bracing portion and at least one clamp portion; and

a displacement member adapted to engage the at least one clamp portion; wherein

the outlet member lies at least partly between the bracing portion and the at least one clamp portion;

movement of the displacement member displaces the at least one clamp portion towards the bracing portion to deform the outlet member; and

deformation of the outlet member alters a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.

5 . An outlet assembly for a spray dispenser, comprising:

an actuator member defining a stem portion and a mounting portion;

an outlet member adapted to be supported by the mounting portion of the actuator member, where the outlet member

is deformable, and

defines an outlet passageway and an outlet opening;

a clamp member comprising at least one bracing portion and at least one support portion; and

a displacement member supported by the at least one support portion; wherein

the outlet member lies at least partly between the bracing portion and the displacement member;

movement of the displacement member relative to the support member causes the displacement member to deform the outlet member; and

deformation of the outlet member alters a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.

6 . An outlet assembly for a spray dispenser, comprising:

an actuator member defining a stem portion, a mounting portion, and a first displacement portion;

at least one outlet member adapted to be supported by the mounting portion of the actuator member, where the at least one outlet member

is deformable, and

comprises at least two overlapping edges such that the at least one outlet member defines an outlet passageway and an outlet opening; and

a clamp member comprising second displacement portion and an engaging portion; wherein

when the second displacement portion of the clamp member engages the first displacement portion of the actuator member, the engaging portion is in contact with the at least one outlet member; and

movement of the clamp member relative to the actuator member displaces the clamp member such that the engaging portion alters an overlap of the at least two overlapping edges of the at least one outlet member; and

altering the overlap of the at least two overlapping edges of the outlet member alters a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.

7 . An outlet assembly for a spray dispenser, comprising:

an actuator member defining a stem portion, a mounting portion, and a first displacement portion;

a plurality of outlet members adapted to be supported by the mounting portion of the actuator member, where the plurality of outlet members are supported by the actuator member to define at least two sets of overlapping edges such that the at least one outlet member defines an outlet opening; wherein

movement of the plurality of outlet members alters an overlap of the at least two sets of overlapping edges; and

altering the overlap of the at least two sets of overlapping edges alters a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.

8 . An outlet assembly for a spray dispenser, comprising:

an actuator member defining a stem portion, a mounting portion, and a first engaging portion;

an outlet member supported by the mounting portion of the actuator member to define an outlet opening; and

a deforming member supported by the actuator member, where the deforming member defines a second engaging portion; wherein

the deforming member acts on the outlet member to alter a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening; and

the first engaging portion engages the second engaging portion selectively to hold the deforming member along a continuum of positions relative to the actuator member; and

each position corresponds to a predetermined cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.
