Abstract

A visualization system that generates visual mash-ups for industrial automation includes a mash-up component that combines output from a subset of disparate sources into a common interface. The disparate sources include at least one of equipment, computers, or devices within an industrial automation environment. A visualization component generates and displays a mash-up visualization that includes information associated with the common interface.

Claims (31)

1. A computer readable medium having stored thereon instructions that, in response to execution, cause a computer to perform operations, comprising:

retrieving information from at least two of a historical data source, a live data source, or an event data source in an industrial control system;

linking the information from the at least two of the historical data source, the live data source, or the event data source; and

generating a computerized mash-up of the information from the at least two of the historical data source, the live data source, or the event data source.

2. The computer readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the receiving the information from the at least two associated sources includes receiving the information from at least two of a historical data source, a live data source, or an event data source.

3. The computer readable storage medium of claim 1 , the operations further comprising:

associating at least two sources of the plurality of sources yielding the at least two associated sources, and wherein the associating further comprises associating the at least two sources of the plurality of sources based on a preference of a user.

4. The computer readable storage medium of claim 3 , the operations further comprising:

inferring the preference of the user based on an identity of the user.

5. The computer readable storage medium of claim 4 , wherein the inferring further comprises inferring the preference of the user based on a role of the user within the industrial control system.

6. The computer readable storage medium of claim 4 , wherein the inferring further comprises inferring the preference of the user based on a location of the user.

7. The computer readable storage medium of claim 6 , wherein the inferring further comprises inferring the preference of the user based on matching the location of the user with a location of the at least two sources of the plurality of different sources.

8. The computer readable storage medium of claim 4 , wherein the inferring further comprises inferring the preference of the user based on a historical user preference.

9. The computer readable storage medium of claim 3 , wherein the associating further comprises associating the at least two sources of the plurality of different sources based on a security setting in the industrial control system.

10. The computer readable storage medium of claim 3 , wherein the associating further comprises associating the at least two sources of the plurality of different sources based on a task within the industrial control system.

11. The computer readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the receiving the information includes receiving the information from an equipment source within the industrial control system.

12. The computer readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the receiving the information includes receiving the information from a network device.

13. The computer readable storage medium of claim 12 , wherein the receiving the information includes receiving the information from at least one of an Input/Output module, an industrial controller, or a communications module.

14. A computerized device, comprising:

a computerized mash-up component configured to associate at least two sources in an industrial control system, wherein the at least two sources comprise at least two of an event source, a historical data source, or a live data source;

a binding component configured to combine information from the at least two sources into a display object; and

a visualization component configured to generate the a display object.

15. The device of claim 14 , wherein the information from the at least two sources comprises data from a first source and variables from a second source.

16. The device of claim 15 , wherein the binding component is further configured to bind the data from the first source to the variables from the second source.

17. The device of claim 15 , wherein the binding component is further configured to bind the data from the first source and the variables from the second source to a function.

18. The device of claim 14 , further comprising an interface configured to display the display object.

19. The device of claim 14 , wherein the mash-up component is further configured to update the mash-up in real time according to changes in the information.

20. A computerized method, comprising:

retrieving information from at least two of a historical data source, a live data source, or an event data source in an industrial control system;

linking the information from the at least two of the historical data source, the live data source, or the event data source; and

generating a computerized mash-up of the information from the at least two of the historical data source, the live data source, or the event data source.
