Abstract

An apparatus, system, method and kit for testing fluid flow and pressure is provided. The apparatus, system, method and kit include or include the use of a flow unit which is configured to measure flow rate and/or flow velocity when interfaced with a flow valve or hydrant and a pressure unit configured to measure at least residual pressure when interfaced with a test valve or hydrant. At least one of the units is configured to wirelessly send data transmissions to the other unit which is configured to receive such transmissions.

Claims (14)

1. An apparatus which is effective for measuring a fluid pressure at a first hydrant and wirelessly communicating data representative of a measured pressure to a second hydrant, the apparatus comprising:

a pressure measuring device which is mountable on the first hydrant and which is effective for measuring pitot pressure at the first hydrant;

a transmitter which is effective for wirelessly transmitting data representative of a measured fluid pressure at the first hydrant to a receiver at a second hydrant; and

a storage medium which is effective for storing data representative of a measured fluid pressure at at least one of the hydrants.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the apparatus further includes a receiver for receiving data from the second hydrant, the receiver being in communication with the storage medium for storing the data from the second hydrant.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the apparatus further includes a receiver for receiving data from the second hydrant, the receiver being in communication with the storage medium for storing the data from the second hydrant;

wherein the pressure measuring device is effective for measuring the least residual pressure;

wherein the apparatus further includes a computer control which calculates a fluid flow from the measured pitot pressure;

wherein the fluid flow is the flow rate of fluid; and

wherein the fluid flow is the velocity of a fluid.

4. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein the pressure measuring device is effective for measuring the least residual pressure.

5. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein the apparatus further includes a computer control which calculates a fluid flow from the measured pitot pressure.

6. The apparatus of claim 5 wherein the fluid flow is the flow rate of fluid.

7. The apparatus of claim 5 wherein the fluid flow is the velocity of a fluid.
