Abstract

Described herein are embodiments of a method of determining information regarding power delivered to a high-Q resonator for a planar wireless power transfer system that includes delivering power to a high-Q resonator, measuring a voltage across a capacitor in said high-Q resonator and determining information regarding power delivered to said high-Q resonator.

Claims (24)

1 . A method of determining information regarding power delivered to a high-Q resonator for a planar wireless power transfer system, comprising:

delivering power to a high-Q resonator;

measuring a voltage across a capacitor in said high-Q resonator; and

determining information regarding power delivered to said high-Q resonator.

2 . A method of determining information regarding power delivered to a high-Q resonator for a planar wireless power transfer system, comprising:

delivering power to a high-Q resonator;

measuring a current passing through a coil in said high-Q resonator; and

determining information regarding power delivered to said high-Q resonator.

3 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein determining information regarding power delivered to the high-Q resonator comprises using said value to control system operation.

4 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein determining information regarding power delivered to the high-Q resonator comprises using said value to control system operation.

5 . The method according to claim 1 , further comprising: measuring a power delivered by a power source.

6 . The method according to claim 2 , further comprising: measuring a power delivered by a power source.

7 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the information regarding power delivered by a power source indicates a change in delivered power.

8 . The method according to claim 5 , wherein information regarding power delivered to the high-Q resonator comprises measuring a current in a coil and a voltage across a capacitor of said resonator.

9 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein information regarding power delivered to the high-Q resonator comprises measuring a current in a coil and a voltage across a capacitor of said resonator.

10 . The method according to claim 5 , further comprising: measuring coil current passing through said resonator coil.

11 . The method according to claim 5 , wherein the information regarding power delivered by a power source indicates a change in delivered power.

12 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the information regarding power delivered by a power source indicates a change in delivered power.

13 . A wireless power apparatus, comprising:

a high-Q resonator comprising a conducting loop and at least one capacitor;

configured for information exchange within the wireless power system.

14 . An apparatus as in claim 13 further comprising a monitor for sensing operating parameters.

15 . An apparatus as in claim 14 wherein said monitor information is exchanged within the wireless power system.

16 . An apparatus as in claim 14 wherein said monitor information is used in a feedback loop.
