Abstract

A mobile wireless communications device includes a housing and circuit board carried by the housing. RF circuitry and a processor are operative with each other and carried by the circuit board. A receiver speaker and microphone are carried by the housing. Audio circuitry is carried by the circuit board and operative with the RF circuitry and processor. A microphone audio switch and receiver speaker audio switch are carried by the circuit board and are connected with audio connection lines that interconnect the processor. A filter is operative with the audio connection lines and operatively connected to at least one of the microphone audio switch or receiver speaker audio switch to reduce conducted and radiated interfering RF energy from coupling into the audio circuitry.

Claims (52)

1. A mobile wireless communications device comprising:

a housing;

a speaker and a microphone carried by said housing;

at least one circuit board carried by said housing;

a processor carried said at least one circuit board;

audio circuitry carried by said at least one circuit board and comprising

audio connection lines,

a speaker audio switch coupled to said speaker and said processor via said audio connection lines, and

a microphone audio switch coupled to said microphone and said processor via said audio connection lines; and

at least one interference filter coupled to said audio connection lines.

2. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 1 , wherein said microphone audio switch and speaker audio switch each includes a respective detect circuit for detecting when a respective microphone/headset is coupled to said audio circuitry.

The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 1 , wherein said audio circuitry further comprises a jack carried by said housing, and jack connection lines carried by said at least one circuit board and coupled to said jack, processor and at least one of said microphone audio switch and said speaker audio switch.

4. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 3 , and further comprising at least one jack filter coupled to said jack connection lines.

5. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 4 , wherein said at least one jack filter includes a resistor divider.

6. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 3 , wherein said audio circuitry includes at least one inductor operatively connected between said jack and at least one of said speaker audio switch and said microphone audio switch.

7. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 1 , wherein said audio circuitry further comprises audio test terminals for conducting an audio breakthrough test.

8. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 1 , wherein said at least one interference filter comprises at least one inductor.

9. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 1 , wherein said at least one interference filter comprises at least one ferrite inductor.

10. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 1 , wherein said housing is configured for handheld operation.

11. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 1 , further comprising cellular radio frequency circuitry carried by said at least one circuit board and coupled to said processor.

12. A mobile wireless communications device comprising:

a housing;

a speaker carried by said housing;

at least one circuit board carried by said housing;

a processor carried said at least one circuit board;

audio circuitry carried by said least one circuit board and comprising

audio connection lines, and

a speaker audio switch coupled to said speaker and said processor via said audio connection lines; and

at least one interference filter coupled to said audio connection lines.

13. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 12 , wherein said speaker audio switch includes a detect circuit for detecting when a microphone/headset is coupled to said audio circuit.

14. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 12 , wherein said audio circuitry further comprises a jack carried by said housing, and jack connection lines carried by said at least one circuit board and coupled to said jack, processor and said speaker audio switch.

15. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 14 , further comprising at least one jack filter coupled to said jack connection lines.

16. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 15 , wherein said at least one jack filter includes a resistor divider.

17. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 14 , wherein said audio circuitry includes at least one inductor coupled between said jack and said speaker audio switch.

18. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 12 , wherein said at least one interference filter comprises at least one inductor.

19. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 12 , wherein said at least one interference filter comprises at least one ferrite inductor.

20. A mobile wireless communications device comprising:

a housing;

a microphone carried by said housing;

at least one circuit board carried by said housing;

a processor carried said at least one circuit board;

audio circuitry carried by said least one circuit board and comprising

audio connection lines, and

a microphone audio switch coupled to said microphone and said processor via said audio connection lines; and

at least one interference filter coupled to said audio connection lines.

21. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 20 , wherein said microphone audio switch includes a detect circuit for detecting when a microphone/headset is coupled to said audio circuit.

22. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 20 , wherein said audio circuitry further comprises a jack carried by said housing, and jack connection lines carried by said at least one circuit board and coupled to said jack, processor and said microphone audio switch.

23. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 22 , further comprising at least one jack filter coupled to said jack connection lines.

24. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 23 , wherein said at least one jack filter includes a resistor divider.

25. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 22 , wherein said audio circuitry includes at least one inductor coupled between said jack and said microphone audio switch.

26. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 20 , wherein said at least one interference filter comprises at least one inductor.

27. The mobile wireless communications device according to claim 20 , wherein said at least one interference filter comprises at least one ferrite inductor.
