Abstract

Machine, method for use and method for making, and corresponding products produced thereby, as well as data structures, computer-readable media tangibly embodying program instructions, manufactures, and necessary intermediates of the foregoing, each pertaining to digital aspects of a computerized aggregation system. The system can include a user computer system interposed between a segment of a network allowing communication between the user computer system and at least one server system, and other segments allowing communication between the user computer system and a plurality of third party server systems. The one server system enables the user computer system to access the plurality of other servers. The access permits forming an aggregation of information obtained from the third party server systems.

Claims (47)

1 - 6 . (canceled)

7 . An aggregation apparatus, comprising:

a computer,

a display controlled by the computer,

and networking hardware connecting the computer to a network the computer programmed so that the aggregation apparatus:

connects to a plurality of sites on the Internet;

authenticates itself with each of the sites;

retrieves information from each of the sites, the information including at least one aggregation from one of the sites;

parses the retrieved information from each of the sites so as to produce a second aggregation of the parsed information; and

renders the second aggregation as output.

8 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said at least one aggregation includes a contacts list.

9 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said at least one aggregation includes job search information.

10 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said at least one aggregation includes shopping information.

11 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said at least one aggregation includes news.

12 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said at least one aggregation includes a friends list.

13 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said at least one aggregation includes photographs.

14 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the second aggregation includes a contacts list.

15 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the second aggregation includes job search information.

16 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the second aggregation includes shopping information.

17 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the second aggregation includes news.

18 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the second aggregation includes a friends list.

19 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the second aggregation includes photographs.

20 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the second aggregation enables a search of the second aggregation through a search interface.

21 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the search comprises a search of keywords.

22 . The apparatus of claim 7 wherein a display of the second aggregation is produced by aggregating on a client side of a client server system.

23 . The apparatus of claim 7 wherein a display of the second aggregation is produced by aggregating on a server side of a client server system.

24 . The apparatus of claim 7 wherein a display of the second aggregation is produced by aggregating on a client side and on a server side of a client server system.

25 . A method of using an aggregation apparatus, the method comprising:

operating a computer operably associated with a display controlled by the computer and with networking hardware connecting the computer to a network, so that the aggregation apparatus carries out the operations of:

connecting to a plurality of sites on the Internet;

authenticating itself with each of the sites;

retrieving information from each of the sites, the information including at least one aggregation from one of the sites;

parsing the retrieved information from each of the sites so as to produce a second aggregation of the parsed information; and

rendering the second aggregation as output.

26 . A method of making an aggregation apparatus, the method comprising:

programming a computer of a computer system, the computer system comprising an output device and networking hardware to connect the computer to a network, with program instructions so that the aggregation apparatus:

connects to a plurality of sites on the Internet;

authenticates itself with each of the sites;

retrieves information from each of the sites, the information including at least one aggregation from one of the sites;

parses the retrieved information from each of the sites so as to produce a second aggregation of the parsed information; and

renders the second aggregation as output.

27 . Computer-readable media, tangibly embodying program instructions, which when executed, operate on an aggregation apparatus including a computer operably associated with an output device and with networking hardware to connect the computer to a network, will cause the aggregation apparatus to carry out the operations of:

connecting to a plurality of sites on the Internet;

authenticating itself with each of the sites;

retrieving information from each of the sites, the information including at least one aggregation from one of the sites;

parsing the retrieved information from each of the sites so as to produce a second aggregation of the parsed information; and

rendering the second aggregation as output.
