Abstract

A bioinformatics method, software, system and database are presented in which attribute profiles containing pangenetic and non-pangenetic information are created and used to identify sets of attributes, including lifestyle attributes that are associated with a condition. The lifestyle attributes which can be modified and which result in a significant change in the probability of having the condition are identified and used as the basis for recommendations for lifestyle modification.

Claims (19)

1 . A non-transitory computer readable medium for determining core attributes containing pangenetic attributes and at least one modifiable lifestyle attribute associated with a condition comprising:

a.) a database of attribute profiles, wherein each attribute profile comprises pangenetic and modifiable lifestyle attributes; and

b.) a set of instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause that processor to perform the steps of:

i.) forming, based on the receipt of a query representing the condition of a reference individual, a positive query group of individuals having the condition, and a negative query group of individuals not having the condition;

ii.) creating a set of candidate attributes containing pangenetic attributes and at least one modifiable lifestyle attribute based on combinations of pangenetic and at least one modifiable lifestyle attribute frequently occurring in the positive query group of individuals but not in the negative query group of individuals; and

iii.) determining a set of core attributes which contain pangenetic and at least one lifestyle attribute wherein the set of core attributes represent commonly occurring attribute profiles containing pangenetic and at least one modifiable lifestyle attribute which are statistically associated with the condition and wherein the modifiable lifestyle attribute, when removed, results in a significant decrease in the correlation of the remaining attributes with the condition.

2 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 , further comprising a set of instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause that processor to perform the step of

iv.) clustering sets of candidate attributes based on the frequency of occurrence of the pangenetic and at least one modifiable lifestyle attribute to provide the basis for the determination of the core attributes.

3 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 , further comprising a set of instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause that processor to perform the step of

iv.) storing the set of core attributes as a rank ordered list wherein the rank ordering corresponds to the ranking of modifiable lifestyle attributes which, when significantly altered, result in the most significant decrease in correlation of the remaining attributes with the condition.

4 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 , further comprising a set of instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause that processor to perform the step of

iv.) transmitting the set of core attributes as a list of pangenetic profiles and modifiable lifestyle attributes.

5 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 1 , further comprising a set of instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause that processor to perform the step of

iv.) receiving an attribute profile associated with an individual and containing pangenetic attributes and at least one modifiable lifestyle attribute; and

v.) determining, based on attribute profile associated with the individual, the core attributes which are highly correlated with the attribute profile associated with the individual, and which contain lifestyle modifiable attributes associated with the individual.

6 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 5 , further comprising a set of instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause that processor to perform the step of

vi.) storing the core attributes which are highly correlated with the attribute profile associated with the individual as a rank ordered list wherein the rank ordering corresponds to the ranking of modifiable lifestyle attributes which, when significantly altered, result in the most significant decrease in correlation of the remaining attributes with the condition.

7 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6 , further comprising a set of instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause that processor to perform the step of

vii.) transmitting at least a portion of the rank ordered list as a set of recommendations for lifestyle modification for the individual to modify the probability of having the condition
