Sophorolipid analog compositions
View Patent ↗A composition of matter comprising sophorolipids as antimicrobial agents, antifungal agents, biopesticides, for uses as drugs to treat HIV, septic shock, cancer, asthma, dermatological conditions, as spermicidal agents, as anti-inflammatory drugs, as ingredients in cosmetics and building blocks for monomers and polymers and self-assembled templates for further chemical elaboration.
1. Sophorolipids and sophorolipid analogs having the following formulas:
wherein:
X 1 or X 2 are carbonyl (—C═O—);
R 1 and/or R 2 are selected from the groups consisting of: hydroxyl; amide; alkanamide; alkanamide containing heteroatoms 1°, 2°, and 3° amino, or tetraalkylammonium; alkylsulfate; alkylphosphate; carbohydrate; and mono- or oligopeptide with 2-8 amino acids;
R 3 is a hydrogen or a methyl group;
R 4 is an alkyl chain that has between 9 and 19 carbons and has one site that is an unsaturated C═C bond which can occur as a hydrogenated, hydroxylated, epoxy, dithiirane, alkyl aziridine or cyclopropyl derivative;
X 3 contains heteroatoms selected from the group consisting of O, S, and NH; and
the combination of X 3 R 5 is selected from the functional groups consisting of: hydroxy; alkanethiolate; amide; alkanamide; alkanamide containing heteroatoms 1°, 2°, and 3° amino, or tetraalkylammonium; alkylsulfate; alkylphosphate; carbohydrate; and mono- or oligopeptide.
2. The sophorolipids and sophorolipid analogs as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the R 4 alkyl chain has 15 carbons.
3. A composition of matter comprising the sophorolipids and sophorolipid analogs of claim 1 , wherein the sophorolipids and sophorolipid analogs are used as antimicrobial agents, as antifungal agents, as biopesticides, as drugs to treat HIV, as drugs septic shock, as drugs cancer, as drugs asthma, as drugs dermatological conditions, as spermicidal agents, as anti-inflammatory drugs, as ingredients in cosmetics, and as building blocks for monomers and polymers and self-assembled templates for further chemical elaboration.
