Abstract

A video processing apparatus includes an input unit to which a video signal containing content is input, a first detector which detects a color of light in the surroundings, a second detector which detects whether a pattern portion formed of a single color of black or white is contained in the video signal input to the input unit, a corrector which corrects the video signal input to the input unit, and a controller. The controller conducts control so that the corrector corrects the video signal input to the input unit according to the color of light detected by the first detector if the second detector detects that the pattern portion formed of the single color of black or white is contained in the video signal input to the input unit.

Claims (32)

1. A video processing apparatus comprising:

an input unit to which a video signal containing content is input;

a first detector which detects a color of light in the surroundings;

a second detector which detects whether a pattern portion formed of a single color of black or white is contained in the video signal input to the input unit;

a corrector which corrects the video signal input to the input unit;

a controller which conducts control so that the corrector corrects the video signal input to the input unit according to the color of light detected by the first detector if the second detector detects that the pattern portion formed of the single color of black or white is contained in the video signal input to the input unit; and

a third detector which detects whether a pattern portion formed of a chromatic color is contained in the video signal input to the input unit;

wherein the controller conducts control so that the corrector stops update of data for correcting the video signal input to the input unit if the third detector detects that the pattern portion formed of the chromatic color is contained in the video signal input to the input unit.

2. A video processing apparatus comprising:

an input unit to which a video signal containing content is input;

a first detector which detects a plurality of colors of light in the surroundings;

a calculator which calculates a ratio among colors of light detected by the first detector;

a second detector which detects whether a pattern portion formed of a single color of black or white is contained in the video signal input to the input unit;

a corrector which corrects the video signal input to the input unit; and

a controller which conducts control so that the corrector corrects the video signal input to the input unit according to the ratio calculated by the calculator if the second detector detects that the pattern portion formed of the single color of black or white is contained in the video signal input to the input unit.

3. A video processing apparatus according to claim 2 , further comprising:

a third detector which detects whether a pattern portion formed of a chromatic color is contained in the video signal input to the input unit,

wherein the controller conducts control so that the corrector stops correcting the video signal input to the input unit if the third detector detects that the pattern portion formed of the chromatic color is contained in the video signal input to the input unit.

4. A video processing apparatus according to claim 2 , further comprising:

a third detector which detects whether a pattern portion formed of a chromatic color is contained in the video signal input to the input unit,

wherein the controller conducts control so that the corrector stops update of data for correcting the video signal input to the input unit if the third detector detects that the pattern portion formed of the chromatic color is contained in the video signal input to the input unit.

5. A video processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the controller conducts control so that the corrector corrects only a content portion of the video signal input to the input unit if the second detector detects that the pattern portion formed of the single color of black or white is contained in the video signal input to the input unit.

6. A video processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the controller conducts control so that the corrector corrects the video signal input to the input unit in such a way as to lower a gain for the color which is large in quantity among the colors of light detected by the first detector as a result of the calculation conducted by the calculator.

7. A video processing apparatus comprising:

an input unit to which a video signal containing content is input;

a first detector which detects a color of light in the surroundings;

a second detector which detects whether a pattern portion formed of a single color of black or white is contained in the video signal input to the input unit;

a display which displays a video image based on the video signal input to the input unit;

a corrector which corrects a quality of the video image to be displayed by the display;

a controller which conducts control so that the corrector corrects the quality of the video image to be displayed by the display according to the color of light detected by the first detector if the second detector detects that the pattern portion formed of the single color of black or white is contained in the video signal input to the input unit; and

a third detector which detects whether a pattern portion formed of a chromatic color is contained in the video signal input to the input unit;

wherein the controller conducts control so that the corrector stops update of data for correcting the video image to be displayed by the display if the third detector detects that the pattern portion formed of the chromatic color is contained in the video signal input to the input unit.
