Abstract

An apparatus and a system for treating a sexual dysfunctional male patient comprise an implanted at least one vibrator adapted to stimulate at least a part of the sexually responsive tissue of the penis of the patient by vibration of said vibrator and contact between said vibrator and at least one area of the sexually responsive tissue. There is also provided a surgical method comprising the apparatus and the system.

Claims (24)

1. An apparatus for treating a sexually dysfunctional male patient, comprising at least one elongated corpus cavernosum prosthesis having an elongated reservoir being hydeaulically operated, wherein the hydeaulically operated at least one prosthesis is powerd and controllable from outside the patient's body, adapted to postoperatively be adjusted to temporarily achieve enlarged status of the penis to achieve erection, wherein the apparatus comprising at least one implantable vibrator adapted to be provided within the at least one elongated corpus cavernosum prosthesis, adapted to be placed within the at least one corpus cavernosum, wherein the at least one vibrator is adapted to vibrate hydraulic fluid within said at least one implantable prosthesis, and wherein said vibrator is adapted to cause vibration in at least one of the corpus cavernosum for further stimulating the sexually responsive tissue of the penis during sexual intercourse, adapted to improve dysfunctional male ejaculation, when implanted, on patient command.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1 , where the at least one vibrator is adapted to create vibration with a frequency from 0.1 to 10,000 Hz.

3. The apparatus according to claim 1 , where the at least one vibrator is adapted to create movement with an amplitude of from 0.01 to 30 mm.

4. The apparatus according to claim 1 , comprising an internal control unit adapted to be implanted in the human body, where the at least one vibrator is controlled by the internal control unit adapted to receive an endogenous signal.

5. The apparatus according to claim 1 , where the at least one vibrator is adapted to create vibrations along more than one axis.

6. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one vibrator comprises a mechanical device, wherein the vibration is achieved by said mechanical device.

7. The apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein the mechanical device comprises an electric motor having an shaft, wherein the vibration is achieved by said electric motor.

8. The apparatus according to claim 7 , comprising an eccentric mechanism connected to the shaft of the motor, wherein the vibration is achieved by the eccentric mechanism.

9. The apparatus according to claim 1 , comprising an electromagnetic mechanism, wherein the vibration is achieved by the electromagnetic mechanism.

10. The apparatus according to claim 1 , comprising a piezoelectric element, wherein the vibration is achieved by the piezoelectric element.

11. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the vibrator comprises a hydraulic device, wherein the vibration is achieved by said hydraulic device.

12. The apparatus according to claim 1 , comprising at least two vibrators, adapted to be placed in the two corpus cavernosa in the region of the sexually responsive tissue of the penis.

13. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one vibrator is adapted to be implanted outside of the corpus cavernosum but in, or in contact with, sexually responsive tissue of the penis of the male patient.

14. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one vibrator is adapted to be implanted in the vicinity of, or in contact with, the glans penis of the penis of the male patient.

15. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the prosthesis is made of silicone.

16. The apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein the mechanical device comprising a motor comprises a gearbox that reduces motor speed.

17. The apparatus according to claim 1 , adapted to be included in a system for manually and non-invasively controlling the apparatus, comprising at least one of; at least one switch implantable in the patient, a wireless remote control, and an implantable hydraulic reservoir hydraulically connected to the apparatus adapted to be regulated by manually pressing the hydraulic reservoir.

18. The apparatus according to claim 1 , adapted to be included in a system, comprising an internal energy receiver, adapted to be energized non-invasively and wireless by an energy transmission device from outside the patients body that sends wireless energy to at least on of:

an implantable internal energy source comprised in the system that is chargeable by the energy transferred from the energy transmission device, and

at least one implantable energy consuming component of the apparatus, with wireless energy.

19. The apparatus according to claim 1 , adapted to be included in a system, comprising a sensor and/or a measuring device sensing or measuring at least one of;

at least one physical parameter of at he patient, comprising at least one of; the urinary pressure in the urinary bladder directly or indirectly including measuring when the sensor is an implantable pressure sensor, the pressure inside the implantable member and any other physical parameter of the patient, and

at least one functional parameter related to the apparatus, comprising at least one of; a functional parameter correlated to the transfer of energy for charging an implantable internal energy source comprised in the system that is charged by energy transferred from an energy transmission device from outside the patients body that sends wireless energy to the implantable internal energy source, and any other functional parameter related to the apparatus, wherein

the apparatus further comprising a feedback device for sending feedback information from inside the patient's body to at lest one of; an implantable internal control unit then comprised and outside of the patient's body, wherein the feedback information being related to at least one of; the least one physical parameter of the patient and the at least one functional parameter related to the apparatus.
