Abstract

Apparatus for processing a digital mesh representing a three-dimensional subject automatically filters out portions of a predetermined color to simplify further processing.

Claims (87)

1. Apparatus to provide a three-dimensional image of a subject, said apparatus comprising:

a plurality of image capturing device groups, each of said groups comprising a plurality of image-capturing devices in predetermined spatial relationship to each other to define a space;

said plurality of image capturing device groups positioned such that each said group is positioned to capture a group of first images of a corresponding surface portion of said subject disposed within said space, each said group of first images captured by the corresponding each of said image capturing device groups capturing a substantially different surface portion of said subject disposed within said space, each said group being disposed such that the totality of the surface of said subject within said space is captured;

said subject comprising portions of a predetermined color;

processor apparatus;

said processor apparatus operable to process said first images to generate a three-dimensional image data file of said subject; and

said processor apparatus operable to process said portions of said three-dimensional image data file of said predetermined color differently than portions of said three-dimensional image data file not having said predetermined color.

2. Apparatus in accordance with claim 1 , comprising:

said predetermined color is selected as one of a blue color and a green color.

3. Apparatus in accordance with claim 1 , comprising:

said processor apparatus is operable to process said three-dimensional image data file to exclude said portions from said three-dimensional image.

4. Apparatus in accordance with claim 1 , comprising:

said processor apparatus is operable to process said three-dimensional image data file to produce a three-dimensional image without said portions having said predetermined color.

5. Apparatus in accordance with claim 4 , comprising:

said predetermined color is selected as one of a blue color and a green color.

6. Apparatus in accordance with claim 1 , comprising:

each said image-capturing devices comprises a filter for filtering out said predetermined color.

7. Apparatus in accordance with claim 6 , comprising:

said processor apparatus is operable to process said three-dimensional image data file to produce a three-dimensional image data file without said portions having said predetermined color.

8. Apparatus in accordance with claim 7 , comprising:

said predetermined color is selected as one of a blue color and a green color.

9. Apparatus in accordance with claim 1 , comprising:

a program executable by said processor for selectively removing all portions of said three-dimensional image data file that are of a particular color.

10. Apparatus in accordance with claim 9 , comprising:

said particular color is said predetermined color:

said processor apparatus is operable to process said three-dimensional image data file to produce a three-dimensional image without said portions having said predetermined color.

11. Apparatus in accordance with claim 10 , comprising:

said predetermined color is selected as one of a blue color and a green color.

12. Apparatus in accordance with claim 1 , comprising:

a color separation program executable by said processor apparatus.

13. Apparatus in accordance with claim 12 , comprising:

said processor apparatus executes said color separation program to process said three-dimensional image data file to exclude said portions from said three-dimensional image data file.

14. Apparatus in accordance with claim 12 , comprising:

said processor apparatus executes said color separation program to process said three-dimensional image data file to produce a three-dimensional image without said portions having said predetermined color.

15. Apparatus in accordance with claim 12 , comprising:

said predetermined color is selected as one of a blue color and a green color.

16. Apparatus in accordance with claim 15 , comprising:

a program algorithm executable by said processor apparatus.

17. Apparatus in accordance with claim 16 , comprising:

said processor apparatus executes said program algorithm to process said three-dimensional image data file to exclude said portions from said three-dimensional image data file.

18. Apparatus in accordance with claim 16 , comprising:

said processor apparatus executes said program algorithm to process said three-dimensional image data file to produce said three-dimensional image without said portions having said predetermined color.

19. Apparatus in accordance with claim 16 , comprising:

said predetermined color is selected as one of a blue color and a green color.

20. A method to provide three-dimensional images of a subject, said method comprising:

providing a plurality of image capturing device groups, each of said groups comprising a plurality of image-capturing devices in predetermined spatial relationship to each other defining a space;

positioning said plurality of image capturing device group such that each said group is positioned to capture a group of first images of a corresponding surface portion of said subject disposed within said space, each said group of first images captured by the corresponding each of said image capturing device groups capturing a substantially different surface portion of said subject disposed within said space, each said group being disposed such that the totality of the surface of said subject within said space is captured;

processing said first images to generate a three-dimensional image data file of said subject;

providing said subject with one or more portions of a predetermined color;

processing said three-dimensional image data file portions of said predetermined color differently than portions of said three-dimensional image data file not having said predetermined color.

21. A method in accordance with claim 20 , comprising:

selecting said predetermined color as one of a blue color and a green color.

22. A method in accordance with claim 20 , comprising:

processing said three-dimensional image data file to exclude said portions from said three-dimensional image data file.

23. A method in accordance with claim 20 , comprising:

processing said three-dimensional image data file to produce a three-dimensional image data file without said portions having said predetermined color.

24. A method in accordance with claim 23 , comprising:

selecting said predetermined color as one of a blue color and a green color.

25. A method in accordance with claim 20 , comprising:

providing a filter for filtering out said predetermined color.

26. A method in accordance with claim 25 , comprising:

processing said three-dimensional image data file to produce a three-dimensional image data file without said portions having said predetermined color.

27. A method in accordance with claim 26 , comprising:

selecting said predetermined color as one of a blue color and a green color.

28. A method in accordance with claim 20 , comprising:

selectively removing all portions of said three-dimensional image data file that are of a particular color.

29. A method in accordance with claim 28 , comprising:

selecting said predetermined color as said particular color; and

processing said three-dimensional image data file to produce a three-dimensional image data file without said portions having said predetermined color.

30. A method in accordance with claim 29 , comprising:

selecting said predetermined color as one of a blue color and a green color.

31. A method in accordance with claim 30 , comprising:

providing a color separation program.

32. A method in accordance with claim 31 , comprising:

executing said color separation program to process said three-dimensional image data file to exclude said portions from said three-dimensional image data file.

33. A method in accordance with claim 31 , comprising:

executing said color separation program to process said three-dimensional image data file to produce a three-dimensional image data file without said portions having said predetermined color.

34. A method in accordance with claim 33 , comprising:

selecting said predetermined color as one of a blue color and a green color.

35. A method in accordance with claim 20 , comprising:

executing a program algorithm to process said three-dimensional image data file.

36. A method in accordance with claim 35 , comprising:

executing said program algorithm to process said three-dimensional image data file to exclude said portions from said three-dimensional image data file.

37. A method in accordance with claim 35 , comprising:

executing said program algorithm to process said three-dimensional image data file to produce a three-dimensional image data file without said portions having said predetermined color.

38. A method in accordance with claim 35 , comprising:

selecting said predetermined as one of a blue color and a green color.
