Abstract

A method for operating a gas discharge lamp may include; the gas discharge lamp is operated using an intermittently constant lamp current, whose time-relative average value of the frequency is predetermined by the lamp voltage of the gas discharge lamp in the steady state, wherein the lamp current has predefined commutation points in the temporal course, and a commutation for generating a commutation pattern can take place at these commutation points, wherein the time-relative average value of the frequency of the lamp current is adjusted by means of a variation of the commutation pattern.

Claims (32)

1 . A method for operating a gas discharge lamp, the method comprising

the gas discharge lamp is operated using an intermittently constant lamp current, whose time-relative average value of the frequency is predetermined by the lamp voltage of the gas discharge lamp in the steady state, wherein

the lamp current has predefined commutation points in the temporal course, and

a commutation for generating a commutation pattern can take place at these commutation points, wherein

the time-relative average value of the frequency of the lamp current is adjusted by means of a variation of the commutation pattern.

2 . The method as claimed in claim 1 ,

wherein the commutation pattern is generated by means of omitting commutation points at which no commutation is to occur.

3 . The method as claimed in claim 1 ,

wherein the commutation pattern is generated by generating a double commutation at commutation points at which no commutation is to occur.

4 . The method as claimed in claim 1 ,

wherein the commutation pattern is generated by combining the following two methods:

generating the commutation pattern by means of omitting commutation points at which no commutation is to occur; and

generating the commutation pattern by generating a double commutation at commutation points at which no commutation is to occur.

5 . An electronic operating device, comprising:

an ignition device;

an inverter; and

a control circuit;

wherein it the electronic operating device executes a method for operating a gas discharge lamp, the method comprising:

the gas discharge lamp is operated using an intermittently constant lamp current, whose time-relative average value of the frequency is predetermined by the lamp voltage of the gas discharge lamp in the steady state, wherein

the lamp current has predefined commutation points in the temporal course, and a commutation for generating a commutation pattern can take place at these commutation points, wherein

the time-relative average value of the frequency of the lamp current is adjusted by means of a variation of the commutation pattern.

6 . A projector, comprising:

an electronic operating device, comprising:

an ignition device;

an inverter; and

a control circuit;

wherein the electronic operating device executes a method for operating a gas discharge lamp, the method comprising:

the gas discharge lamp is operated using an intermittently constant lamp current, whose time-relative average value of the frequency is predetermined by the lamp voltage of the gas discharge lamp in the steady state, wherein

the lamp current has predefined commutation points in the temporal course, and

a commutation for generating a commutation pattern can take place at these commutation points, wherein

the time-relative average value of the frequency of the lamp current is adjusted by means of a variation of the commutation pattern;

wherein the projector is designed to project an image, during the execution of the method, in such a way that the execution of the method is not apparent from the image.
