Abstract

A system for selecting, managing, sharing and displaying content data files in a manner that takes into the account the contextual significance of said content data files to a narrative, an author(s) and an audience. A system that is able to place an absolute and relative value upon the significance of a media object is able to assist in stimulating the recollection of the author and audience, thus making every aspect more memorable and enhancing by improving the ease of use and the quality of the final result of the use of the system of this invention.

Claims (18)

1. A method implemented by a hand-held device adapted to process content data files to form digital data representing a work of communication, the work of communication pertaining to a narrative, and the method comprising:

accessing a set of content data files stored in a memory device accessible to the hand-held device;

determining context indicators from at least some of the accessed content data files based at least upon a set of rules for identifying the context indicators;

providing the narrative to a voice recognition system that converts the narrative into a form that usable by a processor associated with the hand-held device;

the processor determining the relative significances of at least some of the accessed content data files;

determining inference queries based at least upon the context indicators and the relative significances of the accessed content data files;

using at least the inference queries to determine a reduced set of the most relevant accessed content data files to include in the work of communication; and

displaying, printing, storing, or transmitting the digital data representing the work of communication.

2. The method of claim 1 , further including the user selecting at least some of the reduced set of content data files to be included in the digital data representing the work of communication.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the selecting of the at least some of the content data files is performed using a touch screen associated with the hand-held device.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first set of content data files is associated with an author of the work of communication.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the relative significances are determined at least with respect to the person associated with the work of communication.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the relative significances are determined at least with respect to the person associated with the node of the narrative.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the relative significances are determined at least with respect to the person associated with the work of communication, and wherein the person associated with the work of communication is an author of the work of communication, an audience member viewing the work of communication, or a performer of the work of communication.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the person associated with the work of communication is an audience member viewing the work of communication over a network.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the narrative comprises a sequence of nodes and the access includes linking at least one of the accessed content data files to one of the nodes and linking at least another of the accessed content data files to a another of the nodes.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising selecting the first set of rules from plural sets of rules based at least upon a relationship between the first set of rules and an author of the work of communication, a subject of the work of communication, a type of the work of communication, a manner in which the work of communication is used, or a manner of use of the work of communication.

11. The method of claim 1 , further comprising monitoring audience reaction to the work of communication, wherein the obtaining obtains the second set of content data files using at least the inference queries and the audience reaction.
