Abstract

A system and method for sharing information on a network-based social platform is provided. A search request, from a first user, for an item from a network-based marketplace is received via an interface provided by a social networking website of a network-based social platform. The network-based social platform is a platform that allows the first user to communicative couple with at least a second user with whom the first user has a pre-established relationship that is stored in a user profile of the first user at the network-based social platform. A search result including at least one item available from the network-based marketplace is provided to the interface associated with the first user. A selection is received from the first user to share information concerning an item from the search result to at least the second user, and the information is shared with at least the second user.

Claims (30)

1. A method comprising:

receiving a search request including at least one keyword, from a first user, to search for an item offered for sale in item listings from a network-based marketplace of a network-based social platform via an interface provided by a social networking website of the network-based social platform, the network-based social platform being a platform that allows the first user to communicatively couple with at least a second user with whom the first user has a pre-established relationship that is stored in a user profile of the first user at the network-based social platform;

performing a search using the at least one keyword on the network-based marketplace of the social networking platform to retrieve a plurality of listings of items offered for sale on the network-based marketplace of the network-based social platform;

providing a search result, based on the performing of the search, that indicates the plurality of listing of items offered for sale on the network-based marketplace of the network-based social platform to the interface associated with the first user for display;

receiving a selection of one of the plurality of listings of items form the search result from the first user to share information concerning the item selected from the search result to at least the second user; and

sharing, using at least one processor, the information concerning the item to at least the second user.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a note regarding the item from the first user.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the sharing of the information comprises adding the item to a list of the second user.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the sharing of the information comprises adding the item to a list of the first user, the list of the first user being accessible by further users having a pre-established relationship with the first user.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing the second user access to a list of the first user.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pre-established relationship is established between the first user and the second user based on the first user and the second user agreeing to grant the pre-established relationship.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pre-established relationship is a friend status on the network-based social platform.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing a marketplace module that provides market application services in the network-based social platform.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing a user interface that includes item information for the item and a field for providing a note.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing a user interface that includes item information for the item and a selectable mechanism for sharing the information.

11. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining whether the first user is allowed to share the information to the second user based on the pre-established relationship.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising determining whether the second user has blocked the first user from sharing the information.

13. The method of claim 1 , further comprising allowing a third user having a pre-established relationship with one of the first user or the second user to view the information being shared.

14. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing posted items on a user interface of the network-based social network.

15. A non-transitory machine-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor of a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:

receiving a search request including at least one keyword, from a first user, to search for an item offered for sale in item listings from a network-based marketplace of a network-based social platform via an interface provided by the network-based social platform, the network-based social platform being a platform that allows the first user to communicatively couple with at least a second user with whom the first user has a pre-established relationship that is stored in a user profile of the first user at the network-based social platform;

performing a search using the at least one keyword on the network-based marketplace of the social networking platform to retrieve a plurality of listings of items offered for sale on the network-based marketplace of the network-based social platform;

providing a search result, based on the performing of the search, that indicates a plurality of listings of items offered for sale on the network-based marketplace of the network-based social platform to the interface associated with the first user for display;

receiving a selection of one of the plurality of listings of items from the search result from the first user to share information concerning an item selected from the search result to at least the second user; and

sharing the information concerning the item to at least the second user.

16. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the sharing of the information comprises adding the item to a list of the second user.

17. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the sharing of the information comprises adding the item to a list of the first user, the list of the first user being accessible by further users having a pre-established relationship with the first user.

18. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise providing a user interface that includes item information for the item and a field for providing a note.

19. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise providing a user interface that includes item information for the item and a selectable mechanism for sharing the information.

20. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise allowing a third user having a pre-established relationship with one of the first user or the second user to view the information being shared.
