Abstract

An engine control unit having a one-time integration of a model predictive control template via a potentially long software process. Changes to the control structure may subsequently be made via a calibration dataset connected to the engine control unit without incurring the potentially long and laborious software process of implementing the template of other approaches in the related art.

2. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) of claim 1 , wherein the compiled control algorithm includes a multi-parametric control algorithm.

3. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) of claim 2 , wherein the multi-parametric control algorithm references one or more off-line generated parameters, and produces one or more on-line generated parameters.

4. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) of claim 3 , wherein the one or more on-line generated parameters are repeatedly updated using the multi-parametric control algorithm, which updates the control output.

5. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) of claim 1 , wherein the compiled control algorithm includes a graph control algorithm.

6. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) of claim 5 , wherein the graph control algorithm references one or more off-line generated parameters, and produces one or more on-line generated parameters.

7. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) of claim 6 , wherein the one or more on-line generated parameters are repeatedly updated using the graph control algorithm, which updates the control output.

8. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) of claim 1 , wherein the compiled control algorithm includes a primal-dual feasibility control algorithm.

9. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) of claim 8 , wherein the primal-dual feasibility algorithm references one or more off-line generated parameters, and produces one or more on-line generated parameters.

10. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) of claim 9 , wherein the one or more on-line generated parameters are repeatedly updated using the primal-dual feasibility control algorithm, which updates the control output.

11. An Engine Control Unit (ECU) for controlling an engine of a vehicle, comprising:

two or more inputs each for receiving an input signal;

two or more outputs each for providing a control output to an actuator of an engine;
