STORAGE AND PACKAGING DEVICE
A packaging and storage device which includes one or more paperboard drawer structures which may be stacked and connected to form a book-like arrangement.
1 . A packaging comprising:
a shell portion having a first surface, a connecting surface and a second surface wherein the connecting surface connects the first surface and second surface;
one or more drawer structures located in between the first surface and second surface of the shell portion;
wherein the one or more drawer structures:
include a retaining structure that creates an opening that corresponds to the shape of at least a portion of item to be located in contact with the retaining structure; and
are each located adjacent a panel that contains no retaining structure.
2 . The packaging of claim 1 , wherein the one or more drawer structures include a receiving surface located in planar contact with the retaining structure.
3 . The packaging of claim 2 , wherein the receiving surface includes an outside edge, an opposing inside edge and at least one side edge.
4 . The packaging of claim 3 , wherein a plurality of drawer structures are attached to the outer shell along each of their inside edges so that the receiving surface of each drawer structure forms a panel that opposes an adjacent drawer structure.
5 . The packaging of claim 4 , wherein the panel that opposes an adjacent drawer structure includes printed indicia that is relevant to an item located on the adjacent drawer structure.
6 . The packaging of claim 2 , wherein the retaining structure includes a depression portion integrally formed therein to assist a user in removing an item from the drawer structure.
7 . The packaging of claim 2 , wherein the retaining structure forms a pocket so that at least a portion of an item is located into the pocket.
8 . The packaging of claim 7 , wherein the pocket is formed in between the receiving surface and retaining structure.
9 . The packaging of claim 5 , wherein the printed indicia is also located on the retaining structure.
10 . The packaging of claim 9 , wherein printed indicia is also located on an item to be located into the drawer structure.
11 . A method for packaging an item comprising the steps of:
providing a drawer structure having a receiving surface and a retaining structure located in planar contact with the receiving surface;
connecting a plurality of drawer structures and locating the connected plurality of drawer structures in between a first surface and second surface of a shell portion.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the receiving surface includes an outside edge, an opposing inside edge and at least one side edge.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the plurality of drawer structures are attached to the shell portion along each of their inside edges so that the receiving surface of each drawer structure forms a panel that opposes an adjacent drawer structure.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the panel that opposes an adjacent drawer structure includes printed indicia that is relevant to an item located on the adjacent drawer structure.
15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the retaining structure includes a depression portion integrally formed therein to assist a user in removing an item from the drawer structure.
16 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the retaining structure forms a pocket so that at least a portion of an item is located into the pocket.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the pocket is formed in between the receiving surface and retaining structure.
18 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the printed indicia is also located on the retaining structure.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein printed indicia is also located on an item to be located into the drawer structure.
