Device and method for the production of a metallic strip
View Patent ↗A device for the production of a metallic strip using a rapid solidification technology is specified, which device includes a movable heat sink with an external surface onto which a melt is poured and on which the melt solidifies to produce the strip, and which device includes a rolling device which can be pressed against the external surface of the movable heat sink while the heat sink is in motion.
1. A device for production of a metallic strip using a rapid solidification technology, comprising:
a movable heat sink having an external surface onto which a melt is poured and on which the melt solidifies in order to produce a metallic strip,
a rotatable burnishing roller which presses against the external surface of the movable heat sink while the heat sink is in motion, which continuously contacts the external surface of the movable heat sink while the melt is poured onto the external surface thereof, and which smoothes by burnishing the external surface of the movable heat sink.
2. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the rotatable burnishing roller presses against the external surface with a pressure sufficient to work the external surface of the movable heat sink.
3. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the movable heat sink is rotatable about an axis of rotation.
4. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the movable heat sink is movable at a peripheral speed of 10 m/s to 50 m/s.
5. The device according to claim 3 , wherein the rotatable burnishing roller is movable parallel to the axis of rotation of the movable heat sink.
6. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the rotatable burnishing roller is movable perpendicular to the external surface of the movable heat sink.
7. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the movable heat sink comprises a roller or a wheel.
8. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the rotatable burnishing roller is provided with a separate control for setting the speed of the roller.
9. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the rotatable burnishing roller presses against the external surface of the movable heat sink in such a way that it is driven by the movement of the heat sink.
10. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the surface of the rotatable burnishing roller presses against the external surface of the rotating heat sink with a pressure sufficient to work by burnishing the external surface of the heat sink.
11. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the rotatable burnishing roller has a first direction of rotation and the heat sink has a second direction of rotation, the first direction of rotation being opposed to the second direction of rotation.
12. The device according to claim 11 , wherein the rotatable burnishing roller is movable across the external surface parallel to the axis of rotation of the heat sink, so that the external surface is contacted spirally.
13. The device according to claim 1 , further comprising a container for the melt to be poured.
14. The device according to claim 13 , wherein the container comprises a casting nozzle.
15. The device according to claim 13 , wherein the container comprises a heater.
16. The device according to claim 1 , further comprising a receiving device for receiving the solidified strip.
17. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the rotatable burnishing roller presses against the external surface of the movable heat sink with a contact pressure which is lower than the yield strength of the heat sink.
18. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the rotatable burnishing roller contacts the external surface of the movable heat sink across a contact surface width of at least 20 mm.
