Abstract

Techniques for supporting and deploying distributed computing components are described, including a computer-readable medium containing instructions for controlling a data processing system to perform a method, the method comprising receiving a request to generate a distributed computing component, generating code corresponding to the distributed computing component, the code containing a method having one type of a plurality of available types, and displaying a graphical representation of the code, the graphical representation including a set of separately delineated display areas, wherein the set of separately delineated display areas includes a delineated display area for each of the plurality of available types.

Claims (19)

1 . A computer-readable medium containing instructions for controlling a data processing system to perform a method, the method comprising:

receiving a request to generate a distributed computing component;

generating code corresponding to the distributed computing component, the code containing a method having one type of a plurality of available types; and

displaying a graphical representation of the code, the graphical representation including a set of separately delineated display areas, wherein the set of separately delineated display areas includes a delineated display area for each of the plurality of available types.

2 . The computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises:

generating other code corresponding to another distributed computing component, the other code containing another method having another type of another plurality of available types; and

displaying another graphical representation of the code, the another graphical representation including another set of separately delineated display areas, wherein the another set of separately delineated display areas includes another delineated display area for each of the another plurality of available types.

3 . The computer-readable medium of claim 2 , wherein the graphical representation and the another graphical representation are displayed simultaneously.

4 . The computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises:

displaying a symbol in the delineated display area, the symbol indicating the one type displayed in the delineated display area.

5 . The computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the graphical representation of the code includes a separately delineated display area for a reference type in the code.

6 . The computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the one type is a create method type.

7 . The computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the one type is a tinder method type.

8 . The computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the distributed computing component is a SessionBean.

9 . The computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the distributed computing component is an EntityBean.

10 . A data processing system comprising:

a memory device comprising a program that receives a request to generate a distributed computing component, that generates code corresponding to the distributed computing component, wherein the code contains a method having one type of a plurality of available types, that displays a graphical representation of the code, the graphical representation including a set of separately delineated display areas, wherein the set of separately delineated display areas includes a delineated display area for each of the plurality of available types; and

a processor configured to execute instructions associated with the program.

11 . The data processing system of claim 6 , wherein the program is configured to generate code corresponding to the distributed computing component, code corresponding to an implementation class, code corresponding to a home interface associated with the implementation class, and code corresponding to a remote interface associated with the implementation class.
