Abstract

The present invention is and includes a device, system and method for providing an image enhancement widget for serving ads and endorsements to certain media content. The device, system and method include a javascript component that, upon execution, obtains at least one subject of primary content on a networked page, and at least one permission for enhancement of the primary content, ones of a plurality of content produced remotely from the javascript component and according to the javascript component, and an enhancement widget. The enhancement widget may be a flash widget.

Claims (28)

1 . A system for providing an enhancement widget, comprising:

a computer-implemented enhancement engine that inquires at least as to user preferences of a user of a site, a content type of content requested by the user, at least one of at least two applications to be produced to the user according to at least the content type, and a data engine that produces stored data content related to the requested content for use by the produced at least one application;

a javascript component placed on the site by said enhancement engine that, upon execution, obtains at least one subject of the requested content and at least one permission for enhancement of the requested content by the produced at least one application;

the enhancement widget comprising at least the produced at least one application and the stored data content overlayed upon the requested content;

at least one database, wherein at least one endorsement is available for use with the enhancement widget; and

an ad service agent, that serves at least one endorsed advertisement using the at least one endorsement proximate to the requested content and in association with the enhancement widget.

2 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein the data engine comprises at least one vault that produces the stored data content.

3 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein said enhancement engine comprises a fulfillment engine that instantiates the enhancement widget in accordance with said javascript component.

4 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein said javascript component comprises a publisher-side javascript component.

5 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 4 , wherein said javascript component further comprises a remote-side javascript component.

6 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 5 , wherein the remote-side javascript component comprises at least one update to a publisher-side javascript component.

7 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein the overlay comprises a transparent overlay.

8 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein the overlay comprises an opaque overlay.

9 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 9 , wherein the overlay comprises an advertisement featuring the subject of the requested content.

10 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein said enhancement widget comprises a reproduction of the requested content.

11 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein said produced at least one application comprises a selectable menu.

12 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 11 , wherein the selectable menu comprises a social network option.

13 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 11 , wherein the selectable menu comprises at least one advertisement.

14 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein said javascript component is placed by permissions of a publisher.

15 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 14 , wherein the permissions comprise at least one of enhanceable images, size ranges and aspect ratios.

16 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein the requested content comprises one of an image file, a hyperlink, and a text reference.

17 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 16 , wherein said javascript component comprises an identification of the at least one subject of the image file.

18 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein said enhancement widget comprises advertising inventory.

19 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein the produced at least one application comprises at least metrics of a subject of the requested content.

20 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein the ad service agent delivers the at least one endorsed advertisement approximately every 20 seconds.

21 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein the ad service agent delivers the at least one endorsed advertisement approximately every 10 seconds.

22 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 1 , wherein the ad service agent delivers two of the at least one endorsed advertisement.

23 . The system for providing an enhancement widget of claim 21 , wherein each of the consecutively delivered at least one endorsed advertisement is unique.
