Abstract

A transmitter includes a conversion module, a sample and hold module, and a discrete time bandpass filter module. The conversion module is operable to convert an outbound baseband signal into outbound frequency domain pulse signal. The sample and hold module is operable to sample and hold the outbound frequency domain pulse signal to produce a frequency domain sample pulse train, wherein the sample and hold module is clocked at a rate corresponding to a frequency component of an outbound wireless signal. The discrete time bandpass filter module is operable to bandpass filter the frequency domain sample pulse train to produce the outbound wireless signal.

an infinite impulse response filter.

7. A transmitter comprising:

a conversion module configured to convert an outbound baseband signal into an up-converted RF signal in frequency domain;

a sample and hold module configured to sample and hold the up-converted RF signal to produce a plurality of pulses spaced in frequency by a sampling frequency, wherein the pulses include a pulse at RF, which corresponds to the up-converted RF signal;

a discrete time bandpass filter module configured to bandpass filter a filter response corresponding to a bandpass filter centered at the RF and attenuate the pulses of other frequencies of the plurality of pulses to produce an outbound RF signal; and

a clock generation circuit comprising:

a clock generation module configured to generate a system clock signal;

a sample and hold clock module configured to generate, from the system clock signal, a sample and hold clock signal at the sampling frequency;

a discrete time filter clock module configured to generate a filter clock for the discrete time bandpass filter module from the system clock signal; and

a conversion clock module configured to generate a conversion clock signal for the conversion module from the system clock signal.

8. The transmitter of claim 7 , wherein:

the frequency component of the outbound RF signal corresponds to a bandwidth of the outbound RF signal such that the sampling frequency is approximately equal to or greater than two times the bandwidth of the outbound RF signal.
