Abstract

An exemplary system for managing an applications and data space includes a strategy layer configured to receive a query statement and to formulate one or more custom queries based on the query statement and a query scheduler layer configured to schedule issuance of the one or more custom queries to one or more query response modules associated with the applications and data space. Other methods, devices and systems are also disclosed.

Claims (44)

1. A computing device, comprising:

a processor;

memory; and

a control logic stored in the memory that is executed by the processor to:

identify, from a plurality of servers, one or more servers executing an application associated with a received query statement,

identify event tracing modules associated with the received query statement,

group the event tracing modules to generate one or more module groups,

formulate one or more custom queries for individual module groups of the one or more module groups based on the received query statement after determining that the query statement does not correlate to a standard query scheduled for execution on the plurality of servers to return one or more standard results associated with one or more server resources,

schedule the one or more custom queries, and

distribute the custom queries to one or more query response modules in an applications and data space that comprises the plurality of servers.

2. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more query response modules comprise one or more event detection and response modules.

3. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the applications and data space comprises a server farm.

4. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the applications and data space comprises one or more software as a service (SaaS) applications.

5. The computing device of claim 1 , further comprising a query module to receive query statements written in a language parsable by a language engine.

6. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more custom queries comprises at least one of a query pertaining to Central Processing Unit (CPU) utilization, a query pertaining to memory utilization, and a query pertaining to Input/Output (I/O) utilization.

7. The computing device of claim 1 , further comprising control logic to analyze information responsive to the one or more formulated queries and to provide information germane to scheduling of workload in the applications and data space.

8. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the control logic further analyzes information responsive to the one or more formulated queries and to provide information germane to latency in the applications and data space.

9. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the control logic further groups the event tracing modules to generate one or more groups, and the scheduling the one or more custom queries comprising scheduling the one or more custom queries to individual groups of the one or more groups.

10. A system for managing an applications and data space, the system comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory to store instructions executable by the one or more processors, the memory to store layers comprising:

a strategy layer to:

decide that a received query statement pertains to a non-standard query after determining that the query statement does not correlate to a standard query that represents a baseline level of query information and is scheduled for execution,

identify, from a plurality of servers, one or more servers executing an application associated with the received query statement,

identify event tracing modules associated with the received query statement,

group the event tracing modules to generate one or more module groups, and

formulate one or more custom queries for individual module groups of the one or more module groups based on the query statement for the non-standard query; and

a query scheduler layer to schedule issuance of the one or more custom queries to one or more query response modules associated with the applications and data space that comprises the plurality of servers.

11. The system of claim 10 , further comprising a data router to route information responsive to the one or more custom queries to the strategy layer.

12. The system of claim 10 , wherein the one or more query response modules comprises an operating system level event tracing module.

13. The system of claim 10 , wherein the one or more query response modules comprises an event detection and response module.

14. The system of claim 10 , wherein the one or more custom queries comprise at least one of a query pertaining to CPU utilization, a query pertaining to memory utilization, and a query pertaining to I/O utilization.

15. A computer-implemented method comprising:

identify, by a computing device, one or more servers executing an application associated with a received query statement from a plurality of servers,

identify event tracing modules associated with the received query statement,

group the event tracing modules to generate one or more module groups,

formulate one or more custom queries for individual module groups of the one or more module groups based on the received query statement after determining that the query statement does not correlate to a standard query scheduled for execution on the plurality of servers to return one or more standard results associated with one or more server resources,

schedule the one or more custom queries, and

distribute the custom queries to one or more query response modules in an applications and data space that comprises the plurality of servers.

16. The computer-implemented method of claim 15 , wherein the one or more query response modules comprise one or more event detection and response modules.

17. The computer-implemented method of claim 15 , wherein the applications and data space comprises a server farm.

18. The computer-implemented method of claim 15 , wherein the applications and data space comprises one or more software as a service (SaaS) applications.

19. The computer-implemented method of claim 15 , further comprising receiving query statements written in a language parsable by a language engine.

20. The computer-implemented method of claim 15 , wherein the one or more custom queries comprises at least one of a query pertaining to Central Processing Unit (CPU) utilization, a query pertaining to memory utilization, and a query pertaining to Input/Output (I/O) utilization.
