FILLING STACK OPENING IN DISPLAY
The present disclosure is directed to methodologies and devices for quitting an active application and controlling displayed images as a result of quitting the application.
1 . A method, comprising:
receiving, by processor executable middleware, a command to close a first window associated with an active first application, the window being displayed by a touch sensitive display;
when a second window from a different active second application is in a stack of the touch sensitive display, ceasing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of the first window and commencing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of the second window; and
when no second window from a different active second application is in the stack, ceasing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of the first window and commencing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of a desktop.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the touch sensitive display comprises first and second touch sensitive displays, wherein the first window is displayed on the first touch sensitive display but not by the second touch sensitive display, wherein the second touch sensitive display displays a third window, and further comprising:
maintaining, by the processor executable middleware, display of the third window during closing of the first window.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the second window is in the stack of the touch sensitive display, wherein the second window is at a top-most or bottom-most inactive display position in the stack, and wherein the processor executable middleware commences the display of the second window on the touch sensitive display.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein no second window is in the stack and wherein the processor executable middleware commences the display of the desktop on the touch sensitive display.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the touch sensitive display comprises first and second touch sensitive displays having first and second stacks, respectively, wherein the first window is displayed on the first touch sensitive display but not by the second touch sensitive display, wherein the second touch sensitive display displays a third window, and wherein the first stack has no second window and the second stack has a fourth window.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the touch sensitive display comprises first and second touch sensitive displays having first and second stacks, respectively, wherein the first and second touch sensitive displays display at least one of first and second portions of the first window and first and third windows, respectively, wherein the first application is a multi-screen application, and wherein the following rules are applied:
when a second and fourth window from at least a different active second application are in the first and second stacks, respectively, ceasing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of the at least one of first and second portions of the first window and first and third windows and commencing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of the second and fourth windows by the first and second touch sensitive displays, respectively;
when no second and fourth window from a different active second application is in the first and second stacks, respectively, ceasing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of the at least one of first and second portions of the first window and first and third windows and commencing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of a desktop in each of the first and second touch sensitive displays; and
when no second window from a different active second application is in the first stack but a fourth window from a different active second application is in the second stack, ceasing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of the at least one of first and second portions of the first window and first and third windows and commencing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of a desktop in the first touch sensitive display and the desktop in the second touch sensitive display.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein, in the ceasing steps, the first window gradually and/or progressively decreases in size and at least one of intensity, opacity, and brightness until the first window disappears from view.
8 . A non-transient, tangible computer readable storage medium comprising processor executable instructions operable to perform the steps of claim 1 .
9 . A communication device, comprising:
at least first and second touch sensitive displays to display windows;
a processor; and
a computer readable memory, the computer readable memory comprising processor executable middleware operable to:
receive a command to close a first window associated with an active first application and displayed by the first touch sensitive display;
when a second window from a different active second application is in a stack of the first touch sensitive display, cease the display of the first window by the first touch sensitive display and commence the display of the second window by the first touch sensitive display; and
when no second window from a different active second application is in the stack, cease the display of the first window by the first touch sensitive display and commence the display of a desktop by the first touch sensitive display.
10 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the second touch sensitive display displays a third window and wherein the processor executable middleware is operable to maintain display of the third window during closing of the first window.
11 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the second window is at a top-most or bottom-most inactive display position in the stack and wherein the processor executable middleware commences the display of the second window on the first touch sensitive display.
12 . The device of claim 9 , wherein no second window is in the stack and wherein the processor executable middleware commences the display of the desktop on the first touch sensitive display.
13 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the first and second touch sensitive displays have first and second stacks, respectively, wherein the first window is displayed on the first touch sensitive display but not by the second touch sensitive display, wherein the second touch sensitive display displays a third window, and wherein the first stack has no second window and the second stack has a fourth window.
14 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the first and second touch sensitive displays have first and second stacks, respectively, wherein the first and second touch sensitive displays display at least one of first and second portions of the first window and first and third windows, respectively, wherein the first application is a multi-screen application, and wherein the following rules are applied:
when a second and fourth window from at least a different active second application are in the first and second stacks, respectively, ceasing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of the at least one of first and second portions of the first window and first and third windows and commencing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of the second and fourth windows by the first and second touch sensitive displays, respectively;
when no second and fourth window from a different active second application is in the first and second stacks, respectively, ceasing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of the at least one of first and second portions of the first window and first and third windows and commencing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of a desktop in each of the first and second touch sensitive displays; and
when no second window from a different active second application is in the first stack but a fourth window from a different active second application is in the second stack, ceasing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of the at least one of first and second portions of the first window and first and third windows and commencing, by the processor executable middleware, the display of a desktop in the first touch sensitive display and the desktop in the second touch sensitive display.
15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein, in the ceasing operation, the first window gradually and/or progressively decreases in size and at least one of intensity, opacity, and brightness until the first window disappears from view.
16 . A method, comprising:
receiving a command to quit an application, thereby closing a window outputted by the application; and
gradually and/or progressively decreasing a scale size and/or alpha value of the window, whereby the window disappears from view.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the scale size of the window is gradually and/or progressively decreased.
18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the alpha value of the window is gradually and/or progressively decreased.
19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the closed window is to be replaced by a second open window, and further comprising:
gradually and/or progressively decreasing a scale size of the second window and/or increasing an alpha value of the second window, whereby the window appears in view.
20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the scale size of the second window is gradually and/or progressively decreased and wherein the gradually and/or progressively decreasing steps occur substantially simultaneously.
21 . The method of claim 19 , wherein an alpha value of the second window is gradually and/or progressively increased and wherein the gradually and/or progressively decreasing steps occur substantially simultaneously.
22 . A communication device comprising dual touch sensitive displays operable to perform the steps of claim 16 .
23 . A non-transient and tangible computer readable storage medium comprising processor executable instructions to perform the steps of claim 16 .
